Sylvia,
Do you have a lot of mail stored in the "Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts,
Deleted Items and Outbox" folders? This can be one source of problems.
Open your Outlook Express and go to TOOLS/OPTIONS and then go to the
Maintainance tab and see if "Compact Messages in Background" is checked, if
so UNcheck it and hit APPLY
and then click on CLEAN UP NOW button and then click on COMPACT..
Outlook Express is not designed to be storage area for large quantities of E
Mail. If you must save a lot of mail, RIGHT click on Local Folders and make
new folders for your mail storage. Keep the 5 I mentioned at the top to a
low level of quantity.
You might also download Ad Aware 6 and run it. You can get it from here:
http://www.lavasoft.de or
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/downloads/
When you download the program, go ahead and install it and be SURE and do an
upgrade BEFORE you do the SCAN NOW... You must check for updates EACH time
you use the program.. They are coming out with new ref files every few days
usually.
