Winme

I guess I deleted a folder in Program Files and then at some point =
removed something from the registry key =
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\VarLD=
ID] because when I go to Add/Remove Programs and then to the Windows =
Setup tab there is nothing there and when I close it I get these errors:

Rundll32
An error has occured in your program.
To keep working anyway, click Ignore and save your work in a new file.
To quit this program, click Close.
You will lose information since your last save.

and

Rundll32 has caused an error in SETUPX.DLL
Rundll32 will now close.

I've read about this one so many times in this group and I used to see =
Koldbear and Mike Maltby make availeable a regfix for this and I've been =
looking for it. I only keep a few days worth of messages and apparently =
it hasn't come up lately here. I checked Doug Knox's and Bill James's =
sites to see if it was there but I didnt find it. Assuming I'm correct =
about my problem, could an MVP, perhaps, post this attachment again? Or =
possibly point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Thank you, Mike, for the fix. It appears to have worked perfectly.
I didn't see the post from the 3rd (I have to be more careful in my
searches) but I appreciate you pointing it out to me because I too had seen
this "fix" involving the LAYOUT files that was mentioned in that thread and
had briefly considered trying it without knowing what it was about. Now I
have an idea and I'm glad I didn't mess with it.
Thanks again - appreciate it.
