Need to click mouse many times to get it to respond

Hello

I am having a problem with using the mouse to navigate.

It seems that no matter what program I am using (Word, IE,
etc,), I have to click my mouse button many times (2-4x)
before it responds.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Have you tried another mouse to see if it still does it.

this one seems to go along with the scan disk problem, as
i too have the same symptom. It is a new (optical)
mouse, but since it worked fine then suddenly started this
nonesense yesterday, at which time i got pre-occupied with
the start up messages so never got around to trying my old
mouse. now that is see others have the same symptom i'm
doutbful it is a local matter... i did get 'auto updated'
by MS site on Dec 27th.. nto sure if all the others with
these new problems also had that update or not.. but if so
that may be teh root cause?
