I keep getting disconnected after a few minutes of being on the internet. It
is preceeded by a distorted sound in my PC.
On top of that my computer runs in the background for quite a while after
turning it on, eating up 'a lot' of MB's, as a matter of fact, nearly half
of my 2 GB drive, so that I am afraid of it being full in no time.

What might be causing such disturbance?
And Is there a way to repair this, or do I have to format?

At one time my PC warned me that my Windows OS might become unstable. Are
these the signs of it?

Please, help.

Harry.

Thanks for the reply, Ananymous.
I don't think it was a virus, because my system was squeaky clean. I used
Adaware, Spybot and Spyblaster
toutinely. But, whatever the cause may have been, I was forced to go ahead,
format the drive and reinstall Windows ME, without enough time to back up
anything.
That's too bad, but everything works fine again now.
I'll just have to regather all necessary information.
Such is life, I guess.

Thank you, Anonymous, for your reply.
To my despair I had to format drive C and reinstall Windows ME. Things got
so bad, leaving me not even time for creation of back-ups.
Spyware could not have been the problem, because I frequently use either one
of Ad-aware, Spybot or Spywareblaster. Besides that I have SystemCleaner
installed and in use.
Now things work smoothly again in Wind.ME-Land.
Hope it stays that way.

Harry.
