Memory Management`

I don't know if this is a windows related problem or not (I am new to
windows after 20 years or so with Macs...).

I am playing "Baldur's Gate" on a PC w/WinMe (essentially handed down from
my daughter) and have found that it slows down to the point not working
after about a half hour. Is this something windows can control (too many
programs loaded at start?) or is it a game issue or hardware issue?

Any thoughts?

Kelly,
The problem is a system issue. Windows 9x and ME system are limited by
two 64 MB caches. Once they are filled, system runs very slowly. The only
solution is to reboot. Here is some additional info.

I think you're referring to "resources" which iirc is 64K.

Probably something running in the background that you don't need

Open up Start/Run/msconfig.exe/Startup (tab) and compare what you have
with...

Thanks to both who replied - I have been re-booting every time it slows (and
this does end the problem). Am upgrading this summer to Windows XP, so
hopefully this won't be as big a problem...
