Hi together!

I need fot an application to run an option to switch over.
The support team answerd follow:

---
There is a setting in WinME that allows your system to use
files that are in long format (non 8.3) I do not know
where this setting is exactly- but it will be someplace in
your control panel/folder settings.
---

How can I do this?

Thanx for help,

Long File Name support is enabled by default on Win Me. I would not recommend
switching this off which requires editing the registry.

See MS KB142982 - "How Windows Generates 8.3 File Names from Long File Names"

HI Mike!

But I need to switch it over to non 8.3 (or I understood
that I have to do after the mail of the support team).
How can I do?
By default it seems not to be activated, otherwise I
wouldn't have those problems...

Win Me uses Long File Names by default. If this isn't happening on your PC
then you have either disabled this yourself in the registry or have installed
a rogue application that has done so.

Use regedit and in the left hand pane browse to the key:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
Now in the right hand pane look for the value "Win31FileSystem". Double click
this value (a dword) and modify the data to 00.

Sorry, I cannot find it.
in the regedit window there is only:
+ HKEY_CLASSES_RROT
+ HKEY_CURRENT USER
+ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ HKEY_USERS
+ HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
+ HKEY_DYN_DATA

Hi!

Disregard, i found it!
But it is set on 00 !
One of the problem-files looks like "PMDG_~10.GAU" but it
should be complete... How do I have to set it, that it
will be?

The problem is not with the operating system. You have now confirmed my
original statement that Win Me is already using Long File Names.
