Robert,
If you're utilizing the AOL browser it may never install :
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
Problem Downloading/Installing a Software (Non-Driver) item
Install stops at 0% when using the AOL Browser
" After signing on to AOL click the Start button then click the Windows
Update Icon. This will start Windows Update using the version of
Internet Explorer that comes with the operating system. "
If you are using Norton, McAfee, or PC-cillin AV's, temporarily disable
them and their script blocking components prior to accessing Windows
Update, downloading, and installing updates/patches. Reenable them after
the installation and any required rebooting.
