Amongst other problems, on this WinME machine there's
no "RUN" to hit in the Start/Run sequence typically
prescribed for doing things like editing the register,
etc.

I've resorted to launching the DOS shell, but that only
helps when the name of the program is known. No help when
the procedure is calling for an alias of some sort.

Start>Settings>Taskbar and Start Menu>Advanced>Display Run.
