Keep hanging up when using Microsoft Explorer. When I
Ctrl/Alt/Del it shows 'Microsoft Explorer (not
responding)'.

Umm - there's no such thing as Microsoft Explorer

There's Windows Explorer, and there's Internet Explorer - which one is
causing problems?

either way, Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Its Internet Explorer that's causing the problems.

Reboot to Safe Mode, and try a Repair of Internet Explorer from Add/Remove
Programs (which version are you running, BTW?)

Can you remember any particular spyware items that AdAware found?

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove what is may be
a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker.
http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
http://www.merijn.org/files/cwshredder.zip
http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip

see if that helps

Anything to do with my problem or something caused by
trying to fix it ??

hdserv - hrdserv - or HIDSERV????

HIDSERV is related to USB devices - often keyboard and mice
Try rebooting to Safe Mode
Open Device MAnager
Remove ALL USB devices,
Remove ALL USB controllers
Reboot to Normal Mode - windows should reinstall the drivers.
