My Windows ME freezes up at least three times a day. No
error message appears. When that happens, I have to turn
off my CPU manually, wait 20 or so seconds and restart the
CPU. When the CPU activates, I have to wait until the disk
screening process is complete. If it has found an error
that caused the problem there's no indication of what that
error was.

BTW: Weather is not a factor. If a storm is coming I shut
down Windows from the proper shut down key.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to prove whether its a heat/hardware issue rather than a WinMe
issue. If heat related then the weather *may* even be a factor - warmer <g>
and the inside of the box may need a good clearout. (A lot of dust gets
sucked into box due to the fan(s) and can reduce the cooling efficiency)

Boot using your Windows Startup (floppy) Disk and let it continue to the DOS
Help page. Leave it running for several hours and see if it still hangs.

If so, then it's a problem with your PC and not with WinMe.

If not, then boot into Safe Mode (F8 or Ctrl keys at boot-up) and leave it
running in that mode for a few hours and see if it hangs. Make a note of
exactly what you were doing (which program you were using) when it hangs.
