I'm a home user with one computer, is a firewall really necessary? I've got
the Sygate Personal Firewall.

Not if it's causing a lot of problems. Less needed if using
a modem as opposed to high speed connection.

I would still recommend using one even with using a modem which I do. Just
because your on a modem doesn't mean things still won't try entering your
system, better to be safe than sorry.

I agree with Joan; I wouldn't use the internet without a firewall, no matter how
you access it. I use Sygate, and can't figure out why you want to dump SPF. :)
