Hi,

I recently upgraded from Win 98 to Win ME.
The following error messages appears during booting
time "Kingston Ether RX KNE20 ISA Ethernet Adapter (0001)
not working properly".

I used Device Manager to display detail information about
the driver, there is an exclamation mark at the beginning
of the driver name and also other drivers have the
exclamation mark at the beginning of the name, then I ran
Automatic drive upgrade, the system recognises the current
driver as being good.

Does the exclamation mark at the beginning of the driver
name signal that the driver is not propperly upgraded from
Win 98 to Win ME.

I would like to resolve this issue so I can use my
Internet connection.

Thank

Since it's an ISA NIC it probably doesn't appear as a WinME supported
hardware device in WinME's HCL list (hardware compatibility List). I might
be wrong but here is the manufacturer's installation instructions for a
WinME installation.

Upgrades should always follow a procedure as determined by the OS
manufacturer. While i prefer WinME over Win98, an upgrade is never as good
an option as a clean install. In this case you should verify your hardware
compatibility. Often enough, in a case where Win98 to WinME upgrades are
concerned, a bios flash may be needed to support ACPI on your motherboard.

Hi Les
I had problems when I first went to Comcast hi speed
internet with the Ethernet also.
Les, just try to open your modem and move the Ethernet to
another plug. That is all I had to do and it worked fine
after that. I don't know why, but for some reason it
doesn't like that plug. It doesn't make much sense but try
it.

It means that the driver is not complete or is wrong. Go to the manufacture
and download WinME drivers for it or you might get Windows to update over
internent by going to System Properties and going to the card and going to
the Update Driver Tab and see what happens. The best bet would be to
download new drivers and than delete the card and reinstall the drivers.
