System restore is disabled here. After this, I went to every drive and
FAT/FAT32 partition in my system in Win98SE and deleted the "_Restore"
folder. Rebooted to ME, and tried to delete the same, won't let me. And, I
find the the same folder has been rewritten to all the partitions previously
deleted.

How do I TOTALLY disable system restore in regards to creating such a
folder, and in the ME boot partition as well for deleting?

I seldom install software in ME, has no internet access, and image the ME
partition weekly. I do not want/need system restore period or its
corresponding folder/directory. Help me make it go away.

Just curious, how is System Restore hurting you? Do you need the space?
Or are you just being anal?

No space problem on any partition. If it suits your view of things, I'm
being anal. My perspective is its an irritation to no end to me. If system
restore is disabled, the folder is not needed.

This explains why the folder is rewritten on a nonWindows Me partition, and
again its associated with the needs of system restore.

If a knowledgable MVP can't help, I'll seek non MS oriented help. Thanks
for your concern.

It it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah, you're being anal. It would seem to me you would have something
more important to do with your computer.

Jonny:

As Mike said, uninstall WinME and replace it with Win98.
SR is an integrated part of WinME.
'Anal' doesn't sound good to me.
'Realistic' is much better.
Have fun.

Harry.

Have XP, ME, and 98SE installed. All serve different purposes. None are
overextended as a result.

Guess I could restore an image of XP or 98SE clean/bare install to ME's
current partition space area and setup the OS accordingly. Or maybe moving
98SE to MEs application handling slot and use ME for primarily what I'm
doing now, internet. Or just deal with the festering sore in windows
explorer.

Hiding personal data partitions just ain't in the cards, I need them for
apps on the ME partition.

No one seems to understand, this is MY computer, anal, realistic, or not.
And, eventually, I'll figure this one out as well. Thanks for your help.

Jonny:
A slight correction, if I may:
We are fully aware that its *your* computer and you can do with it as you
please.
All we are *trying* to do is, help you find the solution to your problem.
If you don't like what you hear, use ear plugs or, maybe, have a sense of
humor.

Harry.

Should have taken you about five perhaps ten minutes at most. Think
Registry and what is being loaded each time you boot your system and no, I
don't mean using the Run keys although that is part, the obvious part of
course, of the answer.
