For as few days now, Device Manager when opened has started the dial up
connection, today I let it complete the connection & then clicked ok, it
doesn't now want to connect to the internet any more, I wonder what it
downloaded, whatever it was it took less than a second.
Something in Device Manager must have been missing or out of date.

This will happen occasionally. It is checking with MS for "Drivers" =
certifications.
Nothing to worry about.
