I may be a tad on the late side of this one, as well......but, there is a
version 2.21 of BHO Demon, http://www.definitivesolutions.com/ , available
and the best part is, it is working without conflict with my eTrust AV!!
yay.

BTW, Major Geeks has the new version......the link to the PCWorld download
site still has the version 2.20.

Heirloom, old and if I could just get Spyware Blaster to

How did you, step by step, download and install it? Did you have to
uninstall your previous BHO Demon first?

Thanks,

Alias and 58; is that old?

Hey Alias,
Yup, 58 is old......of course, compared to dirt you are just a
puppy. lol.

No probs on the BHO Demon. The download from Major Geeks is a .zip file. I
simply used Add/Remove in Control Panel to remove the proggy first, then
went to the file folder and deleted the two remaining files that Add/Remove
did not get.
(one was a .log file, can't remember the other, but, I deleted it just the
same).
I then used Arj Folder to unzip the file, click on the .exe and it will
install to the folder you emptied......well, mine did.

The new version will not 'phone home' without your permission, updates are
easily obtained and you must take time to read the scrolling marquee at the
bottom of the GUI that asks for donations, it is hilarious.
Heirloom, old and gonna keep both my kidneys

Couldn't it be that this very same BHO Demon program, which is upsetting
your Spyware Blaster?

Wish it were, Harry, but, alas, no. I have tried disabling everything I
can and the GUI still won't open in Windows mode.....it will in the Safe
Mode, so, there is a driver conflict or some other process that is killing
it. I just haven't had the time to sit down and put my finger on it.

Diskeeper isn't even running, Figgs. That's another little item that EZ AV
does not get along with. I have been trying to locate the reason that
Spyware Blaster causes the Kernel32 errors when I open the GUI in Windows
mode (thanks Harry, I had been satisfied with my workaround). I'm still
stumped.

I am making a very large cross for a church in west Texas. I put the last
coat of finish on the oak today......now have 15 hand rubbed coats of my own
special blend of tung oil on it. It looked very good at 10 coats, but, I
knew it could look better, so, 15 is where I was happy. The front of the
cross will be stained glass with a vine design created by the solder joints.
I have been cutting out the leaves from copper and applying them to the
glass today. Only got 50 done.....the final product will have over 200. I
was hoping to have it done before Christmas, but, that is going to be
close.....I'll send you a pic of the final product.

Heirloom:

Must have sensed the connection:
You are the artist in wood and I 'am' the carpenter (in retirement),
a good combination, wouldn't you say?
I still don't understand that I don't have any problems with the Blaster,
while you (and others) do.
Of course, I use common sense in my assessment of the situation
while you have your computer skills to fall back on.
Therfore I am hoping for an explanation.

Harry, too old to worry about it.

Sounds super......can't wait till you send a picture. I suppose you are
using a high gloss on it. We use a matte finish on our early Canadiana
antiques. And a secret stain that my Dad made up......might even let you
have it for a price, grin. But it is usually for pine.....not oak or
whatever you are using.

And the errors I was getting with my scanner included that Kernel 32. Hmmm.

Thanks for the offer, however, I make up my own stains and finishes. Mine,
too, is known only to me. The primary ingredient is fine tung oil, no
petroleum distillates, and a number of other oils in specific proportions.
The finish is more of a satin or semi-gloss that 'ambers' with
age....indicative of tung oil finishes. I have a large stained glass in my
living room with a heavy pine frame that I made about 25 years ago. The
patina on the wood is spectacular. That is what I like about the oil
finish, the beauty of the wood is not masked by surface reflections.

Oh yeah, go for the Kernel32 error again and hit Ctrl-d to get the details
of the error. It may help in finding the resolution to your issue.
Heirloom, old and must go to bed now

Dad made this one up some 40 years ago.....has oil paints (burnt sienna,
etc) in it. Can't remember all of the recipe, but I have it written out on
here. It too doesn't hide the marks and imperfections of the antiques.....I
can spot a repro from 40 paces!! We only have two of them in the house and
no one can figure out which pieces are new.

Heading for bed too.....making my shortbreads tomorrow, so will be busy for
a while.....want some? Grandma's receipt/recipe from 100 years ago. I
would be 'shot at dawn' if I didn't make them. (G)

Night......Figgs, who would love a stained glass window.....hint!!

I rather think both Loon and Figgs know about:

Troubleshooting KERNEL32.DLL Errors
http://www.aumha.org/win4/a/kernel32.htm

from our friends Jim Eshelman and Richard Harper.
A close reading again may help.
Loon, boot as cleanly as possible and run Spyblaster to see if it coughs
then.

Loon, FWIW, before the HD simply died and would not spin in my laptop, I ran
Diskeeper 8 and eTrust without any problem here. Note that I did not run
the active defragging component, prefering to manually defrag the little
used machine.

Thanks, Jack. However, 'tis the auto defrag portion that it interferes
with. I can manually defrag by putting EZ AV in the snooze mode. Will go
through the exam steps again when I have the time. My project is taking up
all the time I have at the moment. Thanks.

Heirloom:

This is the second time I installed and uninstalled BHO Demon.
The program is nice, but it doesn't tell me anything I don't already know,
yet it slows down my startup remarkably.
Should I ever want or need it for any reason, I will have to install it
temporarily to do its job and then uninstall it again.
That's my personal experience, H and not a guideline.
So, don't let that discourage you.

Harry, old and faithful.
