I have had my computer for three years and only recently
have heard about degragmentizing. I have stopped my screen
saver as has been suggested. I Have the computer running
constantly for forty eight hours and according to the menu
I have completed 2% for the disc. IS THIS NORMAL? Can I
ruin anything by having the desktop on constantly without
a screen saver. How vital is it to degragmentize? I would
appreciate some information on this. Thank you. A J

Run defrag from within Safe Mode.
Make sure anti-virus isn't running, it should complete the defrag, may take two
or 3 hours.
Defragmenting the HD makes the PC run a bit quicker & a bit more stable.

Get the free ScanDefrag. It is the most advanced disk maintenance
program there is. It runs Disk Cleanup, ScanDisk, and Disk
Defragmenter. It's easy to setup and use, and it can deal with
problems like "drive's contents have changed: restarting...".
Get it and read about all the options it has that you can use.

It is not unusual to see Defrag restart a number of times.=20
It is , however, unusual to see ScanDisk restart.
This is why I suggest starting it at bedtime and letting it run =
overnight.
