I am getting a DW.exe error every time I boot up my
Windows ME. It says that DW.exe will shut down. This has
not really been much of a problem, but now I am trying to
install another program and I keep getting an error that
says the file can not write to the C: drive. Is this
related to the DW.exe error? What is this DW file? What
does it do? And how can I fix it?
Thanks for your help,
Tami

DW.EXE
The most common cause of dw.exe errors is a program called DownloadWare which
is used to pop-up adverts onto your desktop and comes "free of charge"
with Kazaa. For more details see
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/DownloadWare.html where you will see that
users with DownloadWare installed often find they also have Network Essentials
installed which is yet more adware/spyware.

This might be a good time to download yourself a copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0
from Lavasoft (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot
(http://security.kolla.de/) and scan your system for and remove any other
unwanted parasites, adware and spyware that might be hiding on your PC.
