I am a Win ME user for many years. I keep the updates
current and scandisk/defrag monthly. Lately I have been
finding my computer locked up. It locked while using, or
when I afk. Reset is the only way out of it. I have been
scanning my drive for errors and everything says okie. I
have increase ram and added cooling devices to help keep
cpu cool. I have also kep side panels off to add to better
ventilation. I have used ad-aware to remove many spybots.
I use symantecs Internet Security & NAV (ALL current and
updated). Direct x9 does nto work properly on my machine.
I have had to do system restore a couple of times I
installed it.

I am using AMD 750mhz processor. My ram maxes at 768 w/
133mhx speed. If there is any further information needed
to help me fix this problem, please note me.

There are a few things you haven't mentioned - and some that need to be
checked.....

1) Have you applied the 'VCache tweak'??
In System.ini - under the [vcache] section header, you need to add the line
MaxFileCache=512000
(and ONLY that line - it should be the only line in that section)
2) what version of NAV? - if it's 2004, then it could be causing your
problems
3) Put the side panels back on- your PC is designed to have a particular
airflow pattern, and leaving the panels off disrupts this flow - and can
make a bad situation worse!!
4) what problems are you having with WMP9? - perhaps a look through here
will help...

See what the results of that are - post back if you need more
