A recently-donated HP laptop had a trial version of a program called Superzip
installed. The trial period had long ago run out and the program was
inoperable. I deleted it . However, whenever I try to unzip a file a
windows pops up saying that Superzip.exe couldn't be found, hence no
extraction.

How can I get Win ME to forget about Superzip?

I resorted to Help. It said that right clicking on a Zip file would pop up
a list with "Extract" in it. I tried that but there was no "Extract" in the
list.

I downloaded Wiz and want to use it for tthe time being. I'd like to get
Win ME to use Wiz automatically. Can I do it?

Rather than deleting an unwanted program uninstall it using the entry in
Add/Remove Programs. This will not only remove the unwanted program's
files but also the various entries it added to the registry such as the
one associating Superzip with files with a zip extension.

This feature is part of Win Me's compressed folders function, Win Me's
built in application for unzipping ZIP files. If not installed you can
install this using Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup | System Tools,
click Details and check "Compressed Folders" then OK and Apply after which
you will need to reboot.

I know nothing of Wiz however if you wish to use this application install
it and it should offer the option to associate itself with ZIP files.
