See MS KB 263455 - "Antivirus Tools Cannot Clean Infected Files in the
_Restore Folder" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=263455).

That's amazing since running an AV application in safe mode would still
not enable it to delete a file within the C:\_RESTORE folder. The file
was either discarded automatically as newer files were archived or maybe
because you either disabled system restore or reduced the space allocated
to the archive.

Alternatively perhaps you mean that you booted to DOS using a floppy and
ran a DOS AV application such as F-PROT since this could also delete an
infected file in the C:\_RESTORE folders.

Mike
I've recently learned that Sysclean can also somehow interfere with the SR
archive, while in Normal Mode - I have yet to see this for myself, but
intend to try it sometime soon.
