This just isn't my day! I was burning some jpeg files to a
CD, put a CD in the drive & clicked on create CD, I got a
message asking for a CD with enough room etc. or something
to that effect, so instead of putting a different CD in I
went ahead & clicked on re-try. Didn't think it was
downloading so I clicked on cancel. Now the CD tray will
not open. I re-booted & no luck. I don't know what else to
do so can someone please help?
I have Adaptec Easy Creator 4, HP, Windows ME. Is more
info required? If so let me know, please....
Thanks, JanisD

Have you tried actually turning the computer off rather than just
restarting?

If that's no good, there's usually a little hole beneath the tray for
opening it manually. You push something appropriately strong and thin in and
when you feel resistance, push a little harder until the tray opens.

Well tried pushing in on the little hole & didn't work all
I did was push the little hole cover right into the tower.
Hope it's not anything important. Looks like I'll have to
take it in to somebody to get it open.
Thanks, janisD

What hole cover did you push into the tower? If there is no way you can
open the drive, even if the computer is in DOS mode or BIOS setup mode, or
before Windows starts, then there is a chance your CD drive door is
physically stuck. That would also explain it not opening when you pushed
something into the hole. If that's really the problem, the drive may need
repair or replacement (luckily they're not expensive). Or, you could try
a crowbar ;-)

Now I am absolutely dumb sometimes. I pushed in the little
orange light cover!!! { Please don't laugh at my stupidty}
No major problem though. I got it to open now anyway, in
msconfig I had adaptec unchecked therefore makes it so the
door won't eject in this situation I guess. I checked the
adaptec box & I then opened it with no problem.
Thanks, janisD

I won't laugh. On my CD-Writer, I have to pull back the drive swivel door
to access the pinhole.

Glad to see you got it open.
