I defragmented My C-drive A few days ago. I have Windows ME
Since then I get an Error messege when I open the computer.
"Avsynmng has caused an error in MCSCAN 32.Dll Avsynmgr
will close now" It does't seem to be bothing the
functions of the cpu yet. Can someone please tell me what
is happening and how to FIX it?

This message is indicating that your McAfee AV application is having problems,
MCSCAN32.DLL being part of McAfee. Not having McAfee installed I cannot
comment about Avsynmng and am guessing that this is a McAfee function. Try
uninstalling and then reinstalling McAfee.

AVSYNMGR is the McAfee service that loads the AV software.

On NT, you can START or STOP the NT service AVSYNMGR.

Reinstallation of the software and installation of the LATEST SuperDAT is warranted.

Chances may be that this is caused by NOT using ENGINE v4320 on the OPs PC.

Thanks for the added information Dave.

Three other similar posts have been posted in other Win Me NGs in the last few
hours, all apparently from different people (some chance <g>). Let's hope
that he/she/they can find their way back and get to read this thread.
