    - Change from me back to 98 se The registry on my windows me is totally corrupt and I'm TIRED of messing with it. I want to go back to windows 98 se. Right now my audio doesnt work, I cant use my cd/rw drive and I can barely get an internet connection (very unstable) Porblem: hdd compressed when me was installed.     - Installing ME over Win2000pro I'm trying to remove Windows 2000 Pro and reinstall ME from the original disk that came with my Dell PC...so that I can then apply my XP home edition upgrade which is compatible...go figure! It won't let me do this...I removed the latest 2000 upgrade packs and tried to run the ME instal disk...but it says I can't run this with 2K running. I then tried via the dos prompt but I get... As a relsult I tend to save and duplicate many files and folders in "My Documents", although they may have different names.     - need bootable floppy Last night I downloaded updates from microsoft and when the system rebooted it wouldn't. It stated that it couldn't start explorer.exe and I had to reinstall windows. Don't they test these things? The recovery CD from the computer maker has gotten confused. I was told I need to format the C drive first.     - Windows ME Registry I have Windows ME OS and recenlty upgraded my Norton Anti Virus from 2000 to NAV Internet Security 2003. I'm having problems with Norton and the error messages I am getting leads me to believe it's really a registry problem with Windows ME. Below are the 2 most common error messeges I am getting: 1. Registry Editor (window) Cannot import C:\Program Files\Commom File\Symantec Shared\Common Client.dat: Error accessing the registry 2.     - Outlook Express Password cannot stop OE from requiring password when switching identities. new installation - IE 6, setup id's NOT to require passwords in ID management.     - 2nd hdd, changing drive letters, windows 2000 Hello, the server system has a primary master with 2 primary partitions C and D. If I put a second harddisk with two primary partitions in the drive letters are changed, so that I have first hdd: C,E second hdd: D,F as the second harddisk also contains two primery partitions. I can´t nor to do I want to change the partition type to extended, since the second hdd is the backup of the first hdd. It isn't associated with any programs in particular, and it has been getting worse over time (used to do it once a week and now it's multiple times per day). Every time our computer boots up, our icon screen comes up, then the screen goes blank and when it comes up again after 10 seconds, a window called windows management instrumentation tester comes up. we have to exit out of this window every time to be able to proceed. I had a problem with the Blaster worm on my XP partition and got it removed by the procedure given by Computer Associates and immunized the system with the MS patch. After removing the virus, when I made a routine check with Norton, after downloading the latest definitions, it still detected a file named A0012668.EXE with w32 Blaster worm in the XP partition. The file is now incubated. But the question now I have is: 1) What is this file Norton detects? Should I merely delete the file? Do I also have to make the check in the Registry for any modifications done by the virus in the registry? Do I have to do all this after disabling System Restore, at least temporarily, and also in Safe Mode? Could any experienced user advise on the correct course of action? P.     - lock-ups I am having trouble with my system since I did a format a few weeks ago. My system keeps freezing for no apparent reason, and when I boot up my floppy drive keeps trying to read for several seconds. The only thing I have installed differently is a firewall from Computer Associates (I use the E-Trust antivirus and figured that the firewall would be a compatible companion, but even with the firewall disabled I get these sporatic lock-ups that require a reboot.     - scandisk problem No matter how I shut down, scandisk starts but nothing is highlighted except has detected not shut down properly.
