I was *thisclose* to deleting AdAware 1.03 because it once again froze up on
me.......but ran it once again with these new defs and it came up with
*Alexa*!!!!

Maybe that has/had something to do with not being able to access some
webpages.......and maybe not. But if it freezes up one more time, out it
goes!!!!!!! I do wish they would not beta test this proggie on us.

Hi, Heather,

It may be best to upgrade to the 1.05 version. I've had no problems
with it, and it seems the most stable build thus far. As for the Alexa
find, it does pick up the "What's Related" links feature in the IE
toolbar, which uses Alexa technology and only when the toolbar is in
use. If you don't use this feature, it's probably not a problem. It's
most likely a personal call to remove or not if this is the key Ad-aware
identified.

It is and I didn't remove it.

1.05 works fine for me except on my Win98SE machine it takes a long time to
load.

I know what you mean about the slow loading. I have it installed on a
P90 machine with 64MB RAM and Win98 that I use for storage, and it does
take a while for it to read the database. ;)

Hi Tom.....

I did quarantine this one.....instead of deleting, wondering if it was a
false alert like the Spybot one.......so it can be replaced. but I don't
have a clue what this What's Related IE Toolbar thing is.....I don't see
anything by that name......or am I having another blonde moment??

I guess I will update it, seeing as you find it more stable. But I was
getting fed up with all the errors in 1.04, etc. And 1.03 (which was
supposed to be more stable) freezes on me 1 out of 4 times. Slow to start
at first as well.

Cheers.....Heather

Figgs, you lose that when you delete the Alexa entry.

The Alexa entry, Figgs? Yes. It's just a reg key anyway. And you can put it
back by running the IE repair tool.

As for being up, well, just opened a can of olives. Damn, now I want some

What OS are you using? Maybe it's a Win 98 SE thing? I haven't worried much
about it because today I plan to put XP on that machine. However, I have
another HP Athlon 800 with 256 MB RAM that I am rebuilding. I'll see what
happens when I put it on the HP (which has Win 98 SE).

I was referring to WHAT he was smoking, lol. Seems Jamaica came into the
conversation......as in *ganja* I am assuming. Unless the word Shane used
means something different over there and if it does, I am not repeating it,
grin.

PS.....thanks for the compliment on the picture. I won't tell you how old
it is or whether it is airbrushed, grin. Actually, it is my *official
newspaper picture* which I used while I was an estate agent. Posed,
prettied up and perky!! Not to mention I was REALLY RED!! Toned that down
in my old age, grin.

You can take that *t* and do with it as you please, Heirloom, all for free.
I didn't use any *spellchecker*.
How come everyone else gets away with it?

Harry, old and not so choosy anymore.

No offense taken, Heirloom, that's just my way of responding when I have the
'hic-cups' and no apology
necessary.

Hi, Heather,

Too bad it didn't work out. There have been a couple of posts in the
Lavasoft forums about freezes, but it seems to be a somewhat isolated
problem. Aren't you lucky? If you can, post the log file on the
Lavasoft forum. Here's the info about what to do:

Shane

I got a freeze first time I ran it. Second time OK.

However, first time I'd minimised it and was trying to do other stuff while
it was scanning and - frankly - Ad- aware 6 usually used to freeze too if I
did that. Never did freeze if I just left it to scan and did nothing else
meanwhile, which is an easy-enough workaround, so I thought no more of it.
