Hi Mike-

First... when I open Ad-Aware, the "Status" screen reads "Warning! Your
definition files may be outdated!" on the bottom. That is the most important
glitch to fix.

Secondly... What you are asking about is I have ad-Aware set up to run in
"Scheduled Tasks".

F.Y.I. I uninstalled the program completely and reinstalled it from their
site this morning, because of this problem. BUT... I have the same problem.

It is Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Plus 106, File version: 6.2.0.237, dated today.

P.S. Mike - I - unintentionally - overlooked that in the beginning of your
response. Sorry! :-(

SGB.

N/P. BTW that's the version/build of Ad-Aware. What David and myself
would have liked to know is the version/date of the definition files that
were causing the problem. Too late now of course to answer that if you've
blown away Ad-Aware or re-installed.

The "...SE Plus 106" sounds to me like the professional version, which must
be paid for.
David has the right version of the free edition " Adaware SE".

Harry - There is no right or wrong version. It is NOT the professional
version. It is Ad-Aware se plus & pro home user. I did pay for it on
4/30/2004.

David - Definitions read same as what you posted SE1R124
1.06r1 Plus. The other numbers came from Properties info.

Mike - Definitions were no different than before I did the uninstall.

Right you are, SGB, didn't mean it that way, only in the sense of the free
version. If you paid for it (and that is the clue), you may have to do some
manual updating, because of being more than 14 days behind. I vaguely
remember something like it from the past. Of course I could be wrong also,
but it's better than not trying at all.
Hope you get it straightened out..

Harry.

I'm seeing the same thing here: Ad-Aware says my definitions file is more
than 10 days old and would I like to update them. When I answer Yes, I get
another message saying that there are no later files available.

Installed definition file SE 1R124 19.09.2006
Core application 1.06r1 Plus

Is it possible there really are no updates available? It's been an
unusually long time between them.

Yo Ken.....

Go into AdAware (the main page that comes up).....click on the "gear" at
the top right (4th from the right) and in the middle you will see
"Definitions"......I changed mine some time ago to 14 days. But check

Addendum, Heather,

I didn't catch your decoding of my pseudonym when I first read your message,
but you got it (and probably others, too, who haven't said anything). It
doesn't really mean anything but I thought it sounded sort of like a
legitimate name. (I have also used Justin Case, Sue d'Nym, and Nom de
Plume.)

The radio program, "Car Talk," has among it closing credits hundreds (yes)
of almost-legitimate sounding names listed on its home page. If you have
plenty of time at your disposal and you are so inclined you can find them
here (I have shortened the URL but it's safe it and works):

Justin,

19.09.2006 + 10 days = 29.09.2006

Of course they are over 10 days old!

And there aren't any new updates.

Tip was to increase that to 14 days:

19.09.2006 + 14 days = 03.10.2006

"Et voilá!" the warning stops.

Takes a woman to figure that one out.....and then a day or two to
convince a male she knows what she is talking about!! ROFL!!

Just got 2 super-brand-new cell phones and am trying to show Ron how to
program it. I figure he has to learn sometime. But he would have the
VCR flashing 12:00, as the saying goes.

I did do one smart thing tho....instructed Rogers to turn off the
Internet on his phone....can you imagine the bills if I let him loose
with that?? He wouldn't have had a clue about it ...LOL.

This is going to be interesting coz his present one is a honkin' huge
Motorola flip phone, 10 years old and the size of a man's fist. It
phones out and receives calls.....that is all he has it do. (VBG) Our
cell phone (mobile, my darling Brits) bills are minuscule but we now get
2500 minutes free a month to call each other. At my age, that is asking
a bit much!!!!

Cheers....Chatty Cathy

Hmm.....

Doesn't that mean there was no "failure"?

If you follow Heather's suggestion:

"Go into AdAware (the main page that comes up).....click on the "gear" at
the top right (4th from the right) and in the middle you will see
"Definitions"......I changed mine some time ago to 14 days."

The warning message stops. You can even change it to 30 days!

As long as you check for updates manually, why bother?

My definition updates are from Sept. 19, 2006. I would hope that
Adaware SE is doing a better job in preventing false positives from
appearing and that is possibly why it is taking Adaware SE a longer time
for updates. <hopefully -- crosses fingers -- :->

Totally agree.

If this delay means quality, they have my vote.

Same here, Joan. Ad-Aware seems to know that it needs to update the
definition file but chokes up almost before it gets started.

Yeah, problems with connecting to the Internet on Friday at the school
--- very slow

Problem at home with Comcast and Web Phone -- Vonage not working on
Friday --- called Comcast and services working again including Vonage
phone --- router may be defective --- must have it tested -- new LinkSys
router also --- hmmm --- what is going on . . . . . industry attack
perhaps but then again maybe that is just paranoia speaking
