I have a possible silly question. I have noticed when I do
a cookie flush that I have a lot of IE5 temp files
flushing, but my microsoft internet explorer says I have
IE6 installed..so when I did a file search I have files
listed for IE5...and also I have two ie6setup files and
one that says computer.net-ie6sp1 wont install
everything..if that means I stil have IE5, why does it
show in 'about internet explorer' I have
version:6.0.2800.1106..If I installed IE6 wrong ,how do I
go back and install it right?

This is perfectly normal.
If you're concerned about your status, try downloading and running Belarc
Advisor (www.belarc.com) and see what it reports as your Installed Hotfixes.

You have IE6 as shown in Help-About.
Temporary Internet Files in IE6 retain the same syntax of folders like
Content.IE5 as was introduced in IE5.

For 823559 you have to go to the Windows Update Catalog -

Go to Windows update
If there's an entry in the left pane for Windows Update Catalog, then use
that - if not, then click on Personalize Windows Update, and then put a
check in the 'Display Windows Update Catalog.....' entry, and click Save
Settings

Click on the Windows Update catalog entry in the left pane, then select
'Find updates for MS Windows operating systems' - then select Windows
Millennium Edition from the scroll-list, and click on Advanced Search.
Enter 823559 in the 'contains these words' box, and then click on Search - a
single result should come up in the Critical patches area - highlight that
and follow the instructions to download the patch - run it to install it.

then reboot, and run Belarc again

Hi Noel, Thank you very much for your help. I did download the 823559 as per
your instructions, but when I ran Belarc again, it stil shows I need to
reinstal, so maybe I did somethig wrong, as far as I can tell, it installed
after I clicked on it. Shouldnt the Belarc tell me its installed?

There's always the possibility that it's just the registry entry that's in
error.....

Check the version numbers for the following files....
27-Jun-2003 02:19 2003.1100.5426 311,864 Html32.cnv
27-Jun-2003 02:19 2003.1100.5426 116,288 Msconv97.dll

So long as the version numbers on your PC are the same, or higher, than
those above, then you should be able to safely ignore the warning.

BTW, are you using Office? - what is the update status on that, and which
version?? (Help|About, in any Office application)
