I was wondering if it is possible in vista to use an animated .gif picure as
a wallpaper, I tried but the animation does not play, the only reason I am
asking this is because animated .gif images would play if you set them as
your backround in XP.

Hello,
I don't remember having such option in XP. Are you using some third party
software to do this?
In Windows Vista Ultimate, There's an extra called "DreamScene" that allow
you to set a high-definition video file as your desktop wallpaper.

No third party software, you just viewed the animated .gif file, right
clicked the image and clicked on set as backround. that's all, the animation
would play on your desktop as your wallpaper.
