Hi,
Look over their instructions carefully as you may have missed something,
http://www.beagle.com.au/support/setup-guides/vista.html
If you are sure all is as it should be, try uninstalling your modem from
Device Manager. Reboot your system and let Windows redetect it.
From their FAQ's
>>>>Q. What Modems to Beagle Support and Recommend?
A. Beagle do not explicitly support or recommend any particular brand or
model of modems. We do however strongly recommend to our customers that you
do not use so-called 'softmodems' or 'winmodems'. These modems perform many
of their tasks in software and can be affected by other tasks on your
computer. We recommend using external modems that perform all modulation and
demodulation functions in hardware such as the Netcomm IN5710<<<<
By you saying AVG did update a few times then quite I believe you have a
failing modem or your modem is hitting one of theirs that do not communicate
well.

All the best,
SG
