vista couldnt have it worse!!!!
1) First of all its expensive, in some countries vista ulitmate costs 700 us
dollars!
2) it needs a new fast computer for it to run well enough to use
3) you often need to throw away perfectly functioning peripherals because
stupid vista cant use the XP drivers
and then you have to buy new ones
4) you often need to throw away perfectly functioning software because
vista-crapista is no longer compatible with them.
5) you lost valuable time and energy just to get stupid vista to work
6) it then takes up more energy for it to function thrashing the disks all
the time, needing 3d accelerated graphic cards for aero that gobble up the
watts
and making the cpus work harder (yes the more the cpu works the more energy
it uses). The PSU (power supply units) have jumped from 250-350 watts to 500
watts or more for a stupid computer than can run vista.
7) Having all that crap in an era where people are out of jobs, the economy
is in a crisis and credit is harder to get....
having all that vista-energy waste when global warming threatens to destroy
civilization is a crime to humanity.
Vista is a dinosaur product. It should be canceled and buried and forgotten.
Its also incredibly stupid design and made and loved by retarded monkeys

COM component registration problem
we have an application for which installer has been created using
installshield. this appilcation is installed for all user of that PC. it is
done by setting ALLUSERS property to 2 in installer. this application
consists of COM server exe, which is used by main application. Once this
application is installed by administrator on any PC it works perfectly fine
for that user but if any other user tries to execute an application for first
time, OS does some configuration for that user and PC restarts. different
behaviour has been observed on XP & vista.
Operating system XP
Operating system does configuration for each group(users group defined by
OS) once, when application is executed by user of that group for first time.
after that any user of a group for which configuration has been done can
sucessfully execute an application.
Operating system Vista
OS does configuration for each user of that Pc and do not retain this
information(i.e. is any other user access an application it configure for
this user and previous user setting has been destroyed) so at any time only
one user can successfully execute an application. it is been observed that
there is some problem related with COM server registration as if COM server
EXE has been executed before executing application no problem occurs who so
ever execute an application. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434856

Hi, I used to open usb storage devices by choosing an option from a menu

Microsoft extends XP downgrade rights date by six months
MS knows Vista is crap lol
http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1619
Microsoft is sending some very confusing signals about Windows Vista - the
latest of which it issued via a statement on October 3.
The Register reported on October 2 that Microsoft was going to extend again
the date until which PC makers would be allowed to continue to offer Windows
users "downgrade rights," enabling them to switch from Vista to XP on new
machines. The Reg said Microsoft had moved the downgrade cut-off date from
January 31, 2009 to July 31, 2009.
I asked Microsoft about the Reg's report and got this statement, via a
company spokesperson:
"As more customers make the move to Windows Vista, we want to make sure
that they are making that transition with confidence and that it is as
smooth as possible. Providing downgrade media for a few more months is part
of that commitment, as is the Windows Vista Small Business Assurance program
(available in the U.S. only), which provides 1-on-1, customized support for
our small business customers."
In other words, the Reg's story was correct.
The spokesperson sent further clarification:
"What's changing is Microsoft is giving six more months where it will
provide downgrade media for XP Professional for OEMs and system builders to
provide to their customers who purchase Windows Vista Ultimate and Business
editions - (which the company figures will be) largely going to be small
businesses since that's the audience that would want/use XP Pro. So it's the
same old downgrade right thing that was in the EULA (End User License
Agreement) before; it's just Microsoft is providing the media to partners a
few months more."
"The same caveat with providing the downgrade media as before applies,
which is OEMs and system builders don't have to do so if they don't want -
it's their business decision to make."
Microsoft has extended XP's end-of-life date before. In Apri 2008 l,
Microsoft officials said the company was not going to extend again the date
on which it required OEMs to stop preloading XP on new machines. That date
was June 30, 2008. Microsoft did say that system builders, a k a white box
vendors, would be allowed to continue to preload XP on new systems until
January 31, 2009. OEMs and system builders both were OK'd to continue
preloading XP on new ultra-low-cost systems through 2010, as many of those
systems were and are incapable of running Vista.
Bottom line: Even though Microsoft is maintaining publicly that Vista is
finally ready for prime time, it is allowing PC makers to continue to offer
customers XP. So what's a user to believe? Is Microsoft really standing
behind Vista? And if it's not - but instead is doing what customers really
want (while simply giving lip-service to Vista's readiness - is that still a
positive? Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434808
Please be gentle. My patient is under stress
My patient, Ringmaster AKA Adam Albright is under quite a bit of stress. He
came in for 3 sessions earlier and I gave him an extra dose of medication.
Adam just kept mumbling that he wanted to call people fuckwits and fanboys.
I excused myself from the room and had Adam thrown out to the street. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434786

Ringmaster - The idiot at large.
Most know newsgroups such as these attract trolls. Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] is obviously a troll, to be more precise the troll in residence
in this newsgroup, but Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is much more than your
garden variety troll.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is a buffoon. That simply means Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] is a clown, obviously some poorly educated loser, what many
would simply call stupid. To prove that point, shortly after Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] reads this there's a better than 50% chance he'll remove his
name in the title, substitute mine, maybe change a few words around and
pretend he wrote the post. That's a classic Adam Albright [Ringmaster]
Fuckwit move.
What's a Fuckwit? Really we're getting into degrees of stupid. Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] excels at showing how stupid he can be. Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] loves to be the internet bully. Anyone raising any issue that
differ with Adam Albright [Ringmaster], Adam Albright [Ringmaster]
automatically spews a familiar string of obscenities. For good measure Adam
Albright [Ringmaster] will usually accuse the poster of being a Fuckwit and
will say they are too stupid to have an opinion and will post infantile
comments more common to six year olds playing some non-stop games of is too,
is not that Adam Albright [Ringmaster] has repeated thousands of times,
because that's all he is capable of.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] craves attention and acceptance, so he tries hard
to impress people. He loves to pretend he runs a business and is an
Accountant. Sometimes Adam Albright [Ringmaster] gets really carried away
and says he can program Flash. When challenged what these technologies are,
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] retreats and refuses to name them, knowing it is
just a lie.
If you read just a few of Adam Albright [Ringmaster]'s posts you'll quickly
discover Adam Albright [Ringmaster] loves to lie. That is his real passion.
In fact you would be hard pressed to read any Adam Albright [Ringmaster]
post that was over stuffed with his lies.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] has told some whoppers too. Like he insists he's
very handsome. Again, any picture to back that claim up is never offered.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] says he has goo all over his shorts. Another tall
tale Adam Albright [Ringmaster] loves to throw out like him claiming to be
rich and successful. Depending on how demented Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is
when posting he'll tell you he is a masturbator guy actively shooting off
his mouth, to being hands-off and retired, to being semi-retired or being in
the process of selling his business or some other tall tale. Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] claims to drive a prius. He can't drive because he lives in an
institution.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is most obvious the liar when he tries to pretend
he's an authority on everything. Adam Albright [Ringmaster] forgets he
once told this newsgroup he had to call Microsoft's help line which he
refers to has his private consultants before he could get Vista to run on
his system. In spite of this admission Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is
clueless, he's usually the first to accuse others of not knowing how to
install or run Vista when it was HE that couldn't get the job done by
himself.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is quite the little crybaby. He's among the first
to curse, yell and bitch and he's always shaking his finger at others if
they put known troublemakers in their place, however Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] has given himself absolute authority and dominion over everyone
posting to this newsgroup. Adam Albright [Ringmaster] has actually said he
can yell, curse and scream all he wants, because he has a right to. Maybe
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] hears voices in his head. When pressed Adam
Albright [Ringmaster] shits his pants.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] obviously is way short of a full deck. The mental
picture most get of Adam Albright [Ringmaster] is some old fool beet red in
the face, pounding his fist on his desk as he curses somebody out.
Adam Albright [Ringmaster] not being very creative always uses the same
insults even though he's never met any of us personally. So if Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] attacks you, you are automatically a fanboy, a fucktard, or an
idiot.
So what you should take away from this little post is Adam Albright
[Ringmaster] is mentally unstable, a known deranged pervert, a proven Sheep
Fucker and just the biggest Putz on Usenet you'll probably ever come across. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434781
Speaking of FOOLS, Meet Ringmaster
You got to say one thing for Ringmaster. He is as
predictable as banks failing. Each and every time this
fucktard has the shit kicked out of him he has a hissy fit.
What a spectacle to watch this moron prove beyond all doubt how
retarded, stupid and juvenile he actually is. What does this moron
do? What he always does. Repeat the same crap based on his previous
lies. Nobody expects this buffoon to ever say anything intelligent.
Never a well thought out reply. No witty remarks, no logic, no reason,
nothing but foul, vulgar, libelous filth.
The stupid fuckwit has no shame. He's a pathological liar. It is
also clear Ringmaster is S T U P I D beyond compare. Nobody but a putz
would try to deny he lied when his lie is still in the same post
he is claiming he said somewhere else. Well nobody but a fuckwit
like Ringmaster.
Ringmaster was such a sap today he tried to pretend being in love with
a Sheep which is verified by many of his posts. That's a riot when this
moron is the one that hijack's other poster's posts claiming them as
his own.
Naturally this fool just got exposed as a clumsy liar and was asking
two chimps have to come to the defense. So of course we're treated to
not just one jackass making a fool of himself, but three!
Take a bow Ringmaster, you fucking moron, you deserve the spotlight. It
takes a special talent to be as stupid as you are and then be even
dumber to call attention to your stupidity on not just once, but for
both you feeble attempts trying to lie your dumb ass off and getting
caught red handed. Of course I always nail all you idiots. Day after
day. That will never change. What a fucking douche bag loser. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434779
A Fool's Paradise...
Yes, an old phrase, and those that blindly support Vista are in a
state of happiness based on false hope. Not surprising the meaning is
lost on the handful of vocal idiots that infest this newsgroup and
spill their bitter bile which flows here like a overflowed river.
Alexander Pope back in 1709 wrote thusly:
"A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the
Pierian spring: there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and
drinking largely sobers us again." This flowery passage is the source
of the better known "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing" and we
see examples of such ignorance here daily.
Beware of a wolf in sheep's clothing. That of course simply means be
cautious of someone who hides malicious intent under the guise of
false truths.
The question boils down to why do some try so hard to paint over the
obvious flaws sprinkled throughout Vista? Is this not the place to
bring such issues to light, discuss them and hopefully together find
solutions? You would think so, but not in the poisoned atmosphere
created by a few ignorant and foolish posters. To hear them tell it
Vista is nearly perfect and if you don't share in the bliss they enjoy
then surely you must be foolish and know not how to install or
configure Vista properly. About as feeble a lie that could be uttered
and a vain and limp attempt to drown out the truth even Microsoft
admits be it in whispers. Namely while well intended, Vista just
hasn't lived up to the hype or promise previously proclaimed from
Redmond and not received well anywhere.
Is there any truth to the madness most of Vista's problems are rooted
in not installing or configuring it correctly? No. One only need spend
a few minutes at Google to see the torrent of complaints and
bewildering number of web pages devoted to discussing Vista issues.
Many that arise show themselves on boxes with name brands where Vista
came preinstalled. One would expect a newsgroup created to discuss
such issues would be an oasis from the storm. It is not.
Fools do foolish things and this newsgroup never has a shortage of
idiots eager to praise Microsoft to the highest rather than holding
them accountable for the ugly thing called Vista. Yes Vista might be
pretty on the surface, but look below the surface and it's often a
ugly old hag. Slow, plodding along and often rude with endless nagging
usually over superficial things plus a unique ability to be seemingly
unable to do simple things like remember settings and instead with no
cause or warning reverting back to some arbitrary setting without even
telling you the user a change was made. Then of course the old
annoyance of cryptic messages like Windows Explorer needed to close,
yet nothing but coded messages buried in some event log that at bests
only hints as to why something internal to Windows keeps crashing.
This place has taken on a bitter tone because of a few loud but
ignorant pontificators foolishly thinking you are on holy ground when
visiting here and besides removing your shoes you also should sit
quietly and rise in praise when one of the self-anointed blowhards
begins to bluster. I don't think so. That isn't the purpose of this
newsgroup, it isn't a house of worship or a fan club. This is suppose
to be a place of discussion and there can't be only one side heard
with a few hot heads engaging in shameless personal attacks to attempt
to drown out opposing views. No, that isn't how it should be, but is
how things are. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434770

QTimes and iTunes - worried with these uploads
Within the past few days I got a free download or update of QTimes and now I
am also getting a 73 MB update of both QTimes and iTunes. I am worried
since I do not think that I use these Apple things (Maybe I had used it
innadvertedly before), I use mostly the Window things that came with my
Vista Ultimate, and never, never listen to music in my computer.
Let me ask, are these QuickTime things and iTunes necessary to be in my
computer even if I do not think that I use them? It is helpful to leave
these there instead of deleting them? Good to have them for any unexpected
future use?
I am worried since these might take a lot of disk space and my computer
already is very slow.
Please advise.

I was wrong
I have to admit. Vista rocks.
After I had sex with mom and she fell asleep ( Ihad her tied down) I
stole her copy of Vista and paid the kid next door to install it for me.
My god I never knew my monitor was supposed to look so good until I
booted up Vista. Er, the kid next door had to show me how to turn the
computer on. Now I can do more than watch the little fishies in the
aquarium on my screen. I even found some good sheep porn. Speaking of
sheep the kid next door hooked up some kind of web cam???? Who wouda
thunk? Anyway now I can look at my darling lover 24 hours a day. That is
I can watch her for about 2 hours a day because the rest of the time in
the barn with her. Or is it a him? Hmmmmm. Sheep butt all tastes the
same so it's hard to tell.
Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that I realize what an
absolute a**hole I am. Hmmm, Sheep....., Oh where was I, Oh yes. I know
what a stupid moronic idiot I am and I just wanted to admit that Vista
freakin rocks. I know realize why Upmybuttooo is such a pice of crap

Vista Home Premium
Can't find the answer to this - probably because I don't know which key

I have 2-3 apps that save files in 2-10 seconds just as all other apps

Vista won't boot after format of secondary drive
I have a brand new computer (running Vista) with 2 drives - a 1 Tb
SATA drive (C: primary), and a 320 G IDE drive (D: secondary). System
booted up fine. I knew the IDE drive had errors on it, so I copied
everything I could to the C: drive and re-formatted D:. Normal
shutdown. Next reboot - all I got was the Microsoft "green line" for
about 10 seconds and a black screen. Safe mode showed it stopped at
CRCDISK.
What happened? Vista was pre-installed and I supplied the 320 G drive.
Did the format delete something off the D: drive that Vista was
expecting? Reliable sources say to disconnect the D: drive and
everything should work fine. If so - can I reconnect the drive and
assume normal operation?
Thanks for any help.

NETWORKING PROBLEM
I have:
A new Dell desktop with VISTA home premium.
An old desktop with XP SP3.
Two laptops with XP SP3.
All access the internet through a router. The internet connection is
working. The 3 XP machines were home networked and had file sharing between
them. That network still works.
I have tried to add the new Dell Vista computer to the network. The Dell

machines do NOT recognize the Dell Vista computer or the printer attached to
it.
What do I tweak to get the Dell Vista fully networked with the 3 XP

List of Vista 32 bit logo compliant apps? Is Sun Java compliant?
I work for a large network broadcasting company in new york.
We have a new CIO who has issued a directive that all (or most) apps
should have earned the Microsoft 32 bit logo compliant seal.
There was a whole list of apps when XP was around, but we are all
upgraded to Vista Business.
He says:
"The the Microsoft 32 bit logo compliant seal on the box assures
people and companies that the programmers have followed Microsoft
standards when designing their apps.
Using compliant apps that follow standards makes for a crash free
environment."
Where did they move the list to? I can only find a hardware list, not
a software list.
Is Sun Java logo compliant? I cant find anything on Sun's website that
shows that they are. Sun is notorious for going against Microsoft
standards.
Many of MS's competitors follow standards, Symantec, Adobe, Autodesk,

Safe to eliminate duplicate files?
Safe to eliminate duplicate files?
I wanted to eliminate duplicate files that had accumulated over time. So, I
used Easy Duplicate Finder http://www.easyduplicatefinder.com
(protecting however system folders and other system files
*.sys,.*ocx,*drv,*dll) and was quite surprised by the large number of
duplicate files.
But perhaps these duplicates are necessary?
I noticed, that very often the same file, e.g. windows.edb, is located in
two locations:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows and also in
C:\Users\AllUsers\ Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows.
Is it safe, to delete one of them?
Or more general, is it safe to eliminate all thus identified duplicate files
in windows vista home premium?
Thanks in advance, Gerhard Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434578

Audio of CNN video clips splutters in Full Screen mode - Firefox 3.0 on Vista Home Premium
I used Firefox 3.0.3 to watch the video news clips on CNN's site
(http://www.cnn.com/) on my HP desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Everything is perfect until I clicked on Full Screen mode. The video is
great, but the audio splutters and is totally incomprehensible. Oddly
enough, Full Screen with Youtube's videos were perfect. It's only the
CNN videos that gave this problem.
I have the latest plugins ie Shockwave Flash v9.0, Shockwave Director
v11.
I have 4mb of RAM on a 2.50 gh Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor, with
4 kb primary memory cache and 6144 kb secondary memory cache. Bus Clock:
133 megahertz
How do I correct this problem. Thanks Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434564
Hi, I'm Frank, your Hall Monitor
Hi you all. This is Frank, you know, this newsgroup's hall monitor. My
job is to stand guard and try to run off those pesky posters that make
Microsoft look bad when they reveal the truth about how messed up
Vista really is. Yes, it is a thankless job, and while Microsoft
didn't ask me to do it, somebody had to, so I'm doing it.
I really don't have any talent, I'm a computer dummy, my intellect is
ranked at the idiot level so I try to make up for those shortcoming by
lying my ass off, by engaging in constant personal attacks and using
as many obscenities as I can.
I live in the gutter. I can't debate, argue, make a point, none of
that stuff because that requires at least some minimal intelligence. I
have none. So I scream, bluster and lie. Did I mention I toss out a
lot of filthy obscenities like sheep fucker and cock sucker? Well,
yeah, I do that, because I'm a miserable son of a bitch and since I
can't reason and wouldn't know what a fact was if I tripped over one,
so instead I'm a full time asshole. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434557
Wake Up Problems
Question about sleep/hibernate on desktop computer. When waking up from
sleep/hibernate, sometimes the monitor will not turn back on. The computer
will power back up but the monitor will stay off and the green light on the
monitor just stays orange. We have to reboot from the start button. Is this a
Vista problem, monitor problem, BIOS problem, etc? This computer was built
brand new for us within the past six months, so everything is new. Thanks for
any info on how to fix this. Tag: lock icons in desktop Tag: 434549
Folder permissions
When I mount an Acronis backup image of an old Vista machine and attempt to
look at Users>Jan folder I am told "You don't currently have permission to
access this folder - click continue to get access to this folder". On doing
this I get the message "You have been denied permisssion to access this
folder - to gain access you will have to use the Security Tab". I don't
seem to be able to do anything on the security tab to get the necessary
permission.
I desperately need to retrieve some files in this folder and would greatly
appreciate information on how to access this folder.

Vista Defender
After I download the new updates for Defender and then open Defender for the
new scan, I notice that the page states: "Last Scan Not Available." Is there
any way I can see, at least, previous scan date?
I do the updates manually and I have CCleaner. However, I have unchecked
Defender in the CCleaner 'Applications."
