Im fed up reading posts about how MS has sold 140 million liscences of
Vista, trying to feed us the notion
that somehow vista is actually a successful product.

You know what I have to say about that? >>>> HOGWASH!

So how does MS keep on making money while making CRAP products like VISTA?!?

Simple. Create a monopoly! Yeah... the Microsoft way!

Then push your new crap products on new computers ....

Then say: "See? Our new product (im talking about vista here of course) is
GREAT and it selling like hotcakes!"

EHEMMMM.... its selling like hotcakes because you are selling it
preinstalled on new computers dahh......

And then you have the stupid idiots that see the 140 million number and say
... wow... vista is great! its selling so many copies!

Don't be ridiculous! That's how many new computers are sold anyway! LOL

And since MS pushes its stupid new vista on new computers (you can get xp on
some new computers if you go to the right place,
but you must specifically ask for it... at first this was impossible to do
anyway... MS had excluded XP from ALL new computers! Then some companies
insisted on selling xp due to popular demand.. so MS had to comply very
reluctantly!)

Lol.... can some idiot vista fanboys eat this sh!t? They actually think
vista is selling because its good?

Give UBUNTU the monopoly for one and a half year, meaning that it will be
PUSHED on new computers for 18 months like vista has, and guess what?
140 computers will have ubuntu! Then guess what? Suddenly all big software
houses will have ported their apps to work on ubuntu!

But lets make some thing clear... 140 mill licenses that MS claims does not
mean that there are 140 million computers actually running vista-crapista.

Nope, many dual boot with xp, and forget about vista, many format vista and
install XP, many just hate their new vista computer and use their old XP
computer
to do actual work, many got the upgrade anytime vista license and never
upgraded! (those are the smart ones)

People who cannot think, have limited perception of reality, or just plainly
believe what they want to believe (LIKE DORK FRANK the biggest idiot of this
newsgroup ever), JUST GIVE ME THE CREEPS!

Just think of this: If these people can eat whatever they are told, and
actually become fanboys of lies, what OTHER FALSE THINGS do these people
believe?

These people remind me of how gullible the Germans were and started
listening to Hitler's crap, and actually believed him!

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Quite true. But I suspect there is a reason. Follow this.

You buy a new PC, it of course as a consumer model comes with three choices,
Vista, Vista or Vista.

So you take it home and discover Vista performance is pathetic and missing
drivers for some stuff. You go to the vendors web site and don't find Vista
drivers.

Next, after some 4-6 weeks fighting with Vista and finding out it will not
work with your media storage, SP1 is useless, and too late to return the PC.
So you decide to go back to XP. So your second purchase of an OS, the
Microsoft double dip... you now have 2 OSes.

But in a few months XP is going into obselecence. And Microsoft sometime in
a year of Vista howling sell the "new and improved" Win7... you will of
course go out and buy it for your PC purchase today as by then you can't get
decent computer security patches for your XP. I call this the Microsoft not
yet patented triple dip.

So for some people chasing the Microsoft OS issues, they will be triple
dipped for profit. I wonder which Microsoft marketing genius thought of
this? The only winner seems to be Microsoft OS sales with less green in our
pockets.

Needless to say, I am not going to get suckered into a double or triple dip,
and just loaded Ubuntu.

yep.. triple whammy... that's why balmer is all smiles..

make a crap product, and make even more money than if it was good! lol

I have to confess... its sheer buisness genius... not very smart on the long
run.. but now they still have cash flow.

XP will be supported up to 2014 I think.. its not going away soon.

It isn't very smart from a long run perspective, but I don't think todays
executives give a rats ass about the long term, and that isn't just a
Microsoft thing.

Todays executives look at a very short term. Just carry me to my annual
bonus and long enough for my options to vest in 6 months. If things mess
up, they still get the golden parachute.

Know one in another company, been slowly cashing out the options, getting
ready to bail. But to bail, they want to be fired for the multi-million
severance package. So they go around firing critical people, crippling the
organization until management wakes up. Currently owns no shares in the
company.

Options for execs should be locked in for 3 years after they leave. Might
give them some longer term vision. Including Ballmer. Maybe develop the
business more and less time spent on how they can personally pillage from
it.

XP will be around for awhile. Just try to tell GM with 284,000 employees
what to do and the costs, they might just publically go Linux if Microsoft
doesn't let them continue to run XP. At say $1000 MS per desktop with
office and tools every 3-5 years, thats $284M. That is clout.

What do you expect from the simpletons that hang out here? It is all
how you look at the numbers. Microsoft claims it has around a billion
Windows installs worldwide. If "only" 140 million licenses have been
rendered for Vista that's roughly 10% of the install base that have
upgraded and Vista has been out over a year.

It is even more revealing when you look at how Microsoft cooks the
numbers. It isn't raw sales, not even close, much of their Vista
number is for licenses in some pre build box that HP, Dell, others
HOPE to sell. I would suspect (but don't know) that the number also
includes boxes not yet sold. Then we have the question of how many
people actually replace the preinstalled Vista with something else.

A real test would be the number of copies of Vista that have been
activated. That Microsoft won't tell and I'll wager it at best is a
fraction of that tossed around 140 million number.

And better yet, how many show up registered than after 2-4 weeks do not call
home for updates any more.

We do know this, the XP sales were unexpectedly up by 50% or something.
That means a lot of people are paying the double dip to get rid of Vista.

Interestingly still no one else is coming close to them in the market other than themselves.
It must be good being your own competitor.

The reason you don't feel your busted balls, is that they were broken beyond
hope quite some time ago.

LOL. Need to get PAN for XP, so I can killfile you. Or use Ubuntu where you
are killfiled.

Microsoft has a long history of voodoo accountability. I defy anyone
to point to any legitimate source that shows how many Vista licensees
have actually been activated. Microsoft won't say. It is all smoke and
mirrors.

You're asking a failed accountant that even the union (mob) had no use
for. He fukked up their books so badly he had to "retire", or else they
would "retire" his dumb fukkin stupid ass permanently.

Sorry AA, I assumed you knew which is why I asked, I won't ask for an explanation of voodoo
accounting, but it says a lot for superstition if it got MS to where they are today. If this
is how you feel about 'number cooking', or 'cooking numbers' I stress that you keep away
from looking into the practices of the U.S Federal Reserve, major and minor banks, the
dynamics of the stock markets regarding share, foreign exchange, bond, etc pricing. You will
really lose your nerve if that's how MS made you feel over 'number cooking', but you don't
know what is either.

Back to the subject of this thread being, 'How to keep making money while making CRAP
products?' Look into;

- McDonalds
- KFC
- Burger King
- Chrysler
- Socks made in China

If you want a more idealistic view like, 'Not making money from bad products', look into;

- RedHat Linux (for the desktop).

Speaking of which, this Vista catastrophic blunder MS done to itself, who was there to fill
the vacuum with a good product, any Linux, Apple takers? No. I do know the answer to that
question, but it's really nothing to worry over.

Red Hat revenues are up as are their stock.

Linux and Apple for many are filling the gap. That is why MSFT is rushing
Win7. They know if Linux ever gets any momentum that Gates and Ballmer cash
cows would be in serious trouble.

Linux isn't going to roll over MSFT for just Vista, it will be more like
death from a million tiny cuts.

Something like what MSFT did to NOVL, what goes around comes around.
