i have been having some problems with my net connection. it drops ou
every now and again (like dial up does). cant access net but still o
local network. but thats the second problem!

the mian thing that has me confussed is i suddenly have "multipl
networks". few times when net drops out the network and sharing basi
map shows 2 networks. local network and unidentified network.

i only have 1 computer on network (ie plugged into router) and it i
using an ethernet connection...router NOT wireless only usb or ether.
net wont connect if the extra network connected.

where did the second network come from?why?should i be worried???

Most motherboards come with both Ethernet and Firewire so they will show
up as separate network connections, next time you visit the properties
page you should see a right click option to "Disable" the one you do not
use.

This is not permanent, it can be re enabled by the same method later.

When you are looking at the network card properties check the box to
show the interface in the system tray, that helps identify what is being
used and what is not connected.

Sorry if this is not much help but I have seen Vista (And Linux) get
upset when an interface is enabled but not connected. XP didn't seem to
care.

Hi,

One other note.
Sometimes when you have "show the interface in the system tray" even after
un-checking it, it will still show up.
