Hi All,

I'm really sorry if I'm in the wrong place but I'm hoping that someone will
be able to help me.

I have a laptop with Vista on it and all my file/folder icons are a preview
of what the file or folder contain. Such as if I have a .jpg file, the file
icon is a preview of the picture. However...

I have just bought a PC with Vista on and it doesn't show the preview it
just shows the program icon, such as if I have a .jpg file and the default
viewer is Microsoft Office Picture Viewer it shows the icon for that program
and not the preview of the picture.

I'm hoping this makes sense. I'm sure it's just a tick box somewhere but I
can't find it anywhere. It's a pain not seeing the preview. I have tried
all options in the view list, such as large/medium/small icons etc.

I want my PC to be the same as my laptop!

All help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Microsoft made it needlessly confusing. In addition to selecting
icons you need to set a folder option. In Windows Explorer, go to
Tools on the Tool Bar, then Folder Options, on the View tab make sure
always show icons, never thumbnails is UN checked and also display
file icon on thumbnail is also unchecked.

Part of the confession is Microsoft uses the word thumbnail in this
section but in the section you already changed refers to the same
thing as icons.

Hello WICKed Lites,

This tutorial will show you how to turn the thumbnails back on for
Windows Explorer so you can see the previews on the icons again.

Hope this helps,
