Usually that is caused by bad entries in the registry. Locations like (but
not exactly)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}\##?#USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_OLYMPUS&Prod_FE210#X775&Rev_1.00#X61047734#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_07b4&Pid_0109\X61047734
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_OLYMPUS&Prod_FE210/X775&Rev_1.00\X61047734
You can try exporting and deleting those type of entries, and see if it
helps. If not run the exported ?.REG files to restore the registry entries.
