I've been having the above problem for some weeks but its saying there is a
Solution available. The description reads:- "This version of Windows
Media Technologies is incompatible with or has been superseded by this
version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the
Microsoft web site"

Being very new to this, I can't seem find the solution and its becoming VERY
frustrating - can anyone help me PLEASE !!

I would guess some app is trying to install the wrong version of Media
Player. You could run the Installer clean up utility, which would list
things installed, and allow you to remove any that have to do with Media
Player.

novice ??

It is affecting quite a few things but particularly when I've been trying to
watch 'catch-up' TV via ITV.com plus I have been unable to watch any
downloaded videos not can I watch anything in the Media Centre.

That is a good description of what you are trying to do here. The specific
error message that you have received will come about when an application
attempts to install an old version of Windows Media onto your Vista system.

Thus my specific question is: what specific application are you trying to
install here? Why are you trying to install that application?

Can you run the Windows Media Player that is already on your system?
