I am using Vista Ultimate with a wireless mouse and I need the HID Non-user
Input Data Filter update to fix the screen saver problems. When I go to
Windows update, this optional update is not available. I have tried
everywhere to find this update.
Does anyone have a suggestion where I may find it?

The wireless device must be installed in order to download the update.

It's a Hardware optional update. You may need to use the System App in
control panel to set your system to look for optional driver updates.

Thanks for the information, but I still can't find the HID Non-user input
data filter update. I have read a number of articles and blogs and it seems
that the people that have found this update are happy with the results.
However, there are a few people like me, that just seem to be going around in
circles and are not able to find this update anywhere. Is there a different
name or number for this update that will help me find it in Windows update?

Hi, what you need to do is to install IntelliPoint software, then
search for the optional update. Make sure your wireless mouse is plugged
in. The link to find the IntelliPoint is as Follow :
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo.../download.mspx
Please reply whether it is successful or not. Good luck and thankyou.

Thanks for the help, but I had already tried this. The first time I had
this problem, I downloaded Intellipoint 6.2 and it fixed the problem. The
problem returned a few weeks later and I followed some other advice to remove
Intellepoint 6.2 and reinstall it. I did that and it fixed the problem. Now
I have the same problem again. I removed Intellipoint and reinstalled it, but
this time it did not work.
My screen saver problem started before the last service pack came out. I
ran the service pack update thinking that it might fix my problem, but no.
With Windows update in Vista, I can not go to the Windows update website to
find downloads. However, I was able to find it in Windows Update Catalog.
So now I have the four files that are the HID Non-user data filter update on
my computer, but they will not install.
My problem has finally caught the attention of someone at Windows support
and maybe I will finally get some answers.

Here is the lastest news on my screen saver/wireless mouse issue. Some one at
Microsoft Online Support Service suggested that I try this:

To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest we first perform these steps:

Step 1: Set the default screensaver
============================
1. Right click the desktop, choose Personalize.
2. Click the Screen Saver.
3. Please set "Windows Logo" as the default screensaver.
4. Choose the Wait time to 1 minute.
5. Click OK to Apply.

Step 2: Check the related Windows Media Player settings
===========================================
1. Start Windows Media Player
2. Click the arrow below the Now Playing tab, and then click More Options.
3. On the Player tab, check the "Allow screen saver during playback" box.
4. Restart the WMP

It seems to have worked.

Spot On!

This worked a treat - if you have IP6.2 and have installed the HID Filter
this seems to work.

Been driving me nuts. Thanks again!
