I'm planning on installing Vista on a new machine I'm building with an
AMD dual core 64 bit
processor. I believe I read somewhere that any version of Vista can be
upgraded to the corresponding
64 bit version. Is that true? If so, how would one go about that?

TIA

By buying a Vista 64 edition?

No, it's not. In fact, *no* version of 32-bit Vista can be upgraded to
the 64-bit version. Although you can use an Upgrade product key, you
have to do a clean installation of the 64-bit version, and then
reinstall all your programs and reload your data files from backups
you had previously created.

It cannot be upgraded, but a 64 bit version is included with whatever
version of Vista you buy. There may be a 64-bit disk in your box, or you
can order one from MS.
