Hi,

I have a problem in vista 64bit:

If I set up a task in the Task Scheduler and I check the "Wake the
computer to run this task", the computer wakes up (from hibernate) at
the specified time but the task doesn't run.

Is there any solution for this?

Most likely the Task you are trying to run doesn't have sufficient
permissions. Make sure the task is run as Administrator.

Hi Perez,

Check to make sure that you have the "Run with highest privileges"
checked in the task's General tab. See step FOUR, step 10, in this
tutorial for a screenshot of this.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

I checked everything, but it don't works.

The user account has administrator rights.

If I start the task manually, it is run.

I attached the screenshots of my settings, you may see what can be set
up wrong.

Thanks,

I would like to run a TV application (DVBViewer) and my own script.

As you can see on picture #3, the task scheduler doesn't start a simpl
message either if the computer is in hibernated state.

If the computer is on and I logged in, then all tasks starts in th
scheduled time what I set up.

I tried a lot of combinations of settings and I tried on an othe
computer.
The result was the same: tasks not run, just wakes up the PC fro
hibernation.

You might try having something else scheduled (EX: Disk Defragmenter
to wake the computer up say a minute before ro run, then have your tas
run a minute afterwards to see if it will run now since the computer i
already awake

Hope this helps

Hi,

Yes, this workaround is working. I tried it already. If I schedul
something else (EX: display a message), the PC wakes up at the time
set up for the message and if I schedule my application 1 minute afte
the message, it starts. So I have to set up 2 tasks to run 1. This i
so ... hmmm.....

The task scheduler worked for years on XP with no such bugs. I don'
understand why is Vista's scheduler doesn't do the same.
I like Vista because it's much faster then XP and has other good thing
but I really need this scheduling function. May there will be a hotfi
which solves this problem. I think I will set up a multiboot system (X
and Vista).

Thanks for help,

Pere

Perez,

I'm glad at least the workaround lets you run the task, but I agree
it's a bit ridiculous to have to do it this way. I'm not an expert on
adding switches or commands in Task Scheduler, but it seems like some
"argument" (switch or command) is missing from the edit "Action" tab to
allow it to run properly without having the workaround. I wish I knew
what it would be, but that should be something to look into also.

Hi Jmm

So far, we were only able it to get to work using the workaround o
having another task scheduled to run right before the problem task so i
will run properly

Hope this helps

The problem with this workaround is that you have to click OK on the message
window before the next action can take place...
Do you know a script to tell the computer to wait a few seconds (instead of
the message display) before the desired action starts? (this would help me
because the desired action involves an internet connection, and after waking
up the machine needs a little time to establish the connection)
ps: is microsoft aware of the problem?

1. You don't have to click OK, because that message doesn't display at
all, it just wakes up the PC from hibernation (or from sleep mode).

That was the original problem, Vista doesn't run any scheduled task
(even to display a simple message) if the PC is in hibernation and the
task is set up to wake up the PC to run task.

2. Download AutoIt and you can write your own script.
