Does anyone know if you can take a sound file created with a handheld digital
recorder and turn it into written text by using the Vista Speech Recognition
function? Thanks.

Speech Recognition has the "dictation" feature, that should work to make
the thing you've said.
I've never tried it, but i think you'll need the "speech recognition
tutorial"
only.

No, speech recognition will not take a WAV or other digital sound file and
convert it into text.

I guess you could try playing it through a microphone, but considering
everything I would guess the accuracy will not be all that good.
