Thanks again Ramesh, I got some time to go through the clean boot =
process=20
today and everything worked fine with clean boot. After going through =
all=20
the running services, it looks like the culprit is the "Avast" virus=20
scanner. I have the paid version and I emailed them today, hopefully,=20
they'll get back to me soon.

Does this problem happen in a clean boot state?

Lisa,
There is a known issue with screensavers, after installing Wireless =
devices
in the system. Although you may be able to launch the screensaver =
manually,
it may not start automatically after the timeout period.
Visit the Windows Update page and install the update that appears as
Optional Hardware Update and has the following title:
Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter

My PC won't go into standby or hibernate on its own after a preset time.
I still can manually bring the PC into standby/hibernate without any
problem.
Don't know where to start to fix this problem, hopefully someone can =
help me
out. I am running XP pro. Have all the latest drivers and MS updates
installed
Thanks
