flash drive not recognized in win xp home with sp/2

hi
I have a 6GB memorex travel drive and it has always worked good .Today i
plugged it into my pc and nothing ..I used it yeaterday in the same pc and
it worked fine .I shut my pc off every night and install all my updates
during the day.
It shows up in the device manager as a USB storage item and a right click
says its working ok ..but it doesn't show up in my computer .. any help
would be appreciated.

Check in Disk Management and try to "assign" a drive letter

Can you try this drive on a different PC?

System Restore would be "over-kill" for this problem and can cause
more problems.
