    - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error: Hello and greetings, After updating my computer to run Cakewalk Sonar 6.1 (Producer Edition) I received the following Error Message when trying to load my graphics programs (Poser, CARARRA, and VUE) on the computer I have Sonar installed on: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error: Program: ProgramFiles\Poser\Poser7.exe Abnormal Program termination. This problem was never resolved. I wrote both to Poser and entered the problem in Cakewalks Forum but did not find a solution. I am currently using Cakewalk Sonar 7.0.2 Producer Edition. Do not know how to address Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Is there an update to Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime that would address this problem? I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3. I have a Intel Core 2 CPU: 6700@2.66 GHz, 2.67GHz, with 2.93 GB RAM. I am using USB MIDISPORT 4X4 by MIDIMAN as my midi interface. I also use ProSonus Firebox Firewire for my audio recording and output source. Thank you for your help in the matter.     - Inrernet Explorer 8 Beta 2 Hi guys; I have Windows XP Professional Media Center Edition 2005, SP 3 with Internet Explore 7. I downloaded IE 8 Beta 2 and installed it. When I run it, I get these two message windows: iexplore.exe The instruction at "0x5a9138fc" referenced memory at "0x5a9138fc". The memory could not be "written" I click OK to terminate the program and the second windows pops up, this massage says the same only with "0x5a928148" instead of the other number. I click OK to close the massage window. I didn't install IE 8 Beta 1 before. I hope somebody can help me fixing it -- Thanks in advance for your help.     - File Icon Image Issue I am running XP Pro. My hard disk was failing (but not yet dead) and I purchased a new one. Coincidentally both disks were identical, Western Digital WD800JB. I first setup the new disk as a slave and used Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Tools to format the new disk and transfer all the files from the old disk to the new. Then I removed the old disk and installed the new disk as the master. The computer now booted but with a few minor issues that I have mostly been able to sort out. The one remaining problem I am aware of is that in Windows Explorer many of the file types have the default icon picture instead of the one they should have for the particular program they are linked to. For instance PPT files show the default icon. If I go into Folder Options|File Types|Advanced|Change Icon ... it comes up with a message that it can't find the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{91110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\pptico.exe In fact the entire C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ directory is missing. I have another computer, a laptop, that also runs XP Pro and has Powerpoint installed. It shows the correctfile icons. When I go into Folder Options|File Types|Advanced|Change Icon ... on this computer it finds and opens C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{91110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\pptico.exe. I thought, great, I'll just copy the file from the laptop to the computer with the new disk and then I'll be able to open the file. However, I can't find a C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ directory on the laptop even though I have hidden files and folders set to be visible. Can anyone explain what this is all about?     - Trash Can in Windows XP I went and threw the trash can out with the trash. I have done th right click thing and gone to Desktop and Customize with no result. have gone and searched for the trash folder by going to Search and Ru Windows desktop and looked for folders there. It was not there. I ca delete things by right clicking and hitting delete. How can I get m garbage can back? How can you empty a garbage can that is not there?     - Automatic User Account Creation I work with AD and am deploying workstations constantly. Is there anyway to create a user account on the workstation without having to have the person logon?     - The standard color dialog box will not accept the standard 3-digit I have a strange problem all of a sudden (although I suspect this started after installing Win XP SP3) If I open the color dialog, this is the standard color dialog windows bring up when one want to change colors ie display settings | desktop | color | other, one can then enter a 3 digit number for RGB (for example orange would be R 259 B 128 G 64) Althoug it show 3 digits or actually it show 2 digits and half of the third when using the slider, but you can only Type 2 Digits, it won't allow you a third digit. I have posted this on various forums and no-body seem to have an answer. So far I tried. Uninstall WinXP SP3, Reinstall office 2003, frontpage 2003, change the font from 96dpi to 72dpi and back. Downloaded and installed the latest: Display driver, Sound and Intel Chipset drivers. I use this function a lot with webdesigning and would appreciate any help or ideas.     - Document Scanning after Win XP SP3 I am running Win XP and Office 2003. I recently installed Win XP SP3 and it broke my Microsoft Document Scanning Program. I am using an HP Printer/Scanner. Before SP3 I would open up Microsoft Doc Scan and the document would scan w/ out a problem. This has just happened recently, and I can't think of anything I've done to cause this to happen... 1 exception: the other day I came home for lunch, and when I came back after work, my computer had been restarted... not like a non-use lockout... restarted... as if my computer had installed something and shutdown on it's own. Since then, my optical drives do not work. I have a DVD burner (EMPREX DVD-RW 16x IDE) and a CD burner (LG HL-DT-ST-CD-RW GCE 8240B). The drives show up in my device manager, but upon inserting any media, nothin happens. At the least there should be a Windows dialog box asking me wat I want to do with the media just inserted... no autorun for games...NOTHING!!!     - SP3 again: The hell with them! Hello All! I have Windows updates set to download and ask before installing. This is the second time that it has been announced that SP3 had been downloaded. I turned off everything including all aspects of the McAfee security suite and the update proceeded. After a long time and all sorts of messages about backup, a loud drum beat announced "Access denied" and the "Update Removal Wizard (or moron)" commenced. As far as I can tell, things are as they were before the "update" but my reaction to Microsoft is "The hell with them" unless I am specifically informed what is needed to install this update. There is no reason why I should do background reading unless Microsoft tells me to do so.     - Problems with my netgear wg111v2 dongle. Hey guys i have looked through other posts and i cant seem to find anything to help me out, Im reinstalling my windows XP on my desktop, and i am using the dongle, my router is the DG834GB Version 4.3, i have everything installed correctly and i have connected everything, my connection speed is excellent and everything seems connected, green light everything. When i try to go on the net it asks me to work offline as i have no connection, i firstly thought that this was a lag spike and when i tried to check my maximium and minimum speeds is says my destination host is unreachable. anyone have any pointers? im pretty sure my router doesnt have to be installed as i have to laptops and i have no problem connecting to them with my built in wireless. I got a user that worked offline all week, her work is crucial and it'll be hard to do it again. I got that error when she is trying to synchronize on my network: the parameter is incorrect. She has XP SP2. As I said previously those modified files are crucial. Another thing is it's the 2nd or 3rd time that laptop has that offline files issue. Is there a reason for that issue to happen, habits to avoid?     - Tabbed Browsing Freezes For a few months i have had a problem when trying to use Internet Explorer.     - Fatal errors browsing Word docs saved as .mht and .htm I've searched a few times and can't find any new hits on .mht issues, so here it is. I have a simple Word document (12 pages long with about 10 embedded images) which I have saved as both .mht and as .htm (and the .htm format puts the images in a similarly-named folder). The .mht and .htm documents can be viewed online (via Javascript window.open()) without an issue, but after closing the window the original (parent) browser window crashes. The crash is *not* immediate. It takes some time and seems to require activity in the original window, although there is no direct interaction which triggers it -- that is, it does not happen immediately after a click or other input. Just opening the .mht from my desktop causes the same error. Vital statistics: Windows XP, IE 7.0.5730.11. Word doc saved from Word 2003. I am up-to-date on all Microsoft updates as far as I know. Is this a brand new issue? I found the problem with .mht files, then tried .htm out of desperation and was stunned to see the same behavior.     - 'Error in intialization' Hi everyone, I have recently been experiencing a problem with my seldom-use Averatec 6200 which is running SP2. This machine is mainly used fo some light word processing, browsing, and occasional DVD playback. About four days ago, I began to experience the following: During the course of normal use (e.g. running IE and/or MS Offic Word), a small window will open which reads 'Error in initialization - parameter is not valid.' The window contains an 'Okay' button at th bottom. This button is not clickable, and hitting the 'Enter' key seem to be the only way of clearing the window. After clearing this window, the screen goes entirely black, and then new window opens which reads 'Index was out of range. Must b non-negative and less than the collection size. Parameter name: index. As with the first window, there is an unclickable 'Okay' button. Hittin the 'Enter' key 2-3 times clears this window and restores the compute to the state it was in prior to blackscreening. The frequency of this error varies. Sometimes, it will occur every fiv minutes. At other times, it may only happen once during a given session I have been unable to isolate the cause of the error. I originall suspected IE was the culprit, but I have since seen the error occu while IE was not running. Through extensive scans with AVG, Ad-Adware and Spybot, I have ruled out the possibility that some malware coul have infected my computer and caused settings to change. I have searched for errors similar to mine, and while I have foun reports of very similar error messages (the exact same text even), al of the errors like this I have seen on other forums have occurred whil using Visual Basic .NET, Windows Forms Designer, ASP DataGrid, and th like. I use none of these, so I am confused as to why I would b receiving this error. Anyone have an idea?     - Weird crash - long read warning We have a central secured wireless Dell PC at work that all the salespeople use at work. It has run trouble free for a few years, running XP Home, SP2. Yesterday something weird happened. I cam in and my coworker who is an senior citizen technophobe, told me that the cleaners that night had knocked the plug out of the wall and that it took him and another to plug it back in and get the PC back running. Incidentally, they stupidly leave the computer running and not logged off, so it is also a given that the cleaning crew probably goes online at night when they shouldn't. (I changed that policy yesterday after fixing the PC). When the old guy finished checking his sports news, (he never closes the browser, he only minimizes it) I closed everything and tried to open my customer database, gone. Got a dialogue files necessary to run PCSync were missing. Tried opening IE7, got an hourglass instead. So, I did what I would normally do, I ran System Restore, using a Checkpoint from the previous day. After system Restore completed and rebooted, I got the Windows boot screen, then a BSOD "GDI32.dll error". I got the Dell boot dick and copied over a fresh file, then rebooted. Another BSOD, "WINSRV error". So I copied over winsrv.dll, still got same BSOD. So I decided to boot to the CD (OEM DELL XPHome SP1) and run a repair install. All seemd to be ok afterwards, except now IE won't run. I get a pop-up saying dll library links missing. Sh*t. Next step, I reinstalled SP2. That should fix it right? wrong. After reapplying SP2, IE now worked but now the USB ports won't work. The did before I installed SP2. I was able to reinstall my PCSync database and everything else works. I had to change out all USB devices to PS2 (mouse, etc.) What fun, not. Why did the USB suddenly stop working? and what could have caused al this trouble? If the old man left the PC running with IE open and someone knocked the power plug out of the wall, would that have corrupted system files? Supposedly this PC has MacAfee running on it, bit could a virus have still infected it? Why would my PCSync app be partially uninstalled? Weird, huh? Anyone have any clue what could have happened?     - Desktop Error Message: Could not load or run "C:\Documents' specified in registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry. I don't understand how this happened. Whenever I search for this file or folder, I pull up "My Documents..." There's no such document or file that's merely "Documents." It's always My Documents.     - xp antivirus virus I got the xp antivirus virus on my Dell Inspiron. lancelhof.com has a procedure but it begins w/ a dll file that my laptop can't register because it can't find the entry point. I heard of someone else who solved the virus problem by doing a restore, tho I can't get any details of what that entailed. The documentation on my Inspiron just has a card that says I can get the info I need to restore by double clicking on the Owners;s manual on the desktop. However, I can't even get Windows to open in other than safe mode so I don't see the desktop. Anyone have any ideas about what to do next? Just this last day or so, when I started to move a large media file from
one secondary drive to another secondary drive my PC will all at once
freeze after giving the disk i/o error message.

I downloaded and installed the latest updated for spybot S & D to ver
1.6 2 days ago, and my problems seem to have started since then.
Coincidence or not?
