I had deleted a program. Then I saw on my desktop that the shortcut was still
there. I right clicked, the clicked on delete and I could not delete the
shortcut. It said the program was no longer available. Okay, I get this. But,
I still want to delete the shortcut. Shell

I agree, there is no reason to not be able to delete the shortcut. Its
just a file on your desktop. Try just single clicking it to highlight
it, then hit the del key.

Shel:

You can also try this - amazingly, it works about 50% of the time, so
it's worth a shot:

RENAME the shortcut to anything else, and then try to delete.

You can also try this: Go into "Search" and type in the box: ***.lnk.
That will bring up all the shortcuts on your computer. Look for the one
you want to get rid of, and try deleting it from there.

If you double click it, like you were going to run it, a window should
pop up asking if you would like to delete the shortcut.
