Upon restart, I have the following message: Alert! Previous attempts at
booting this system have failed at Checkpoint [USBd]. For help in resolvinfg
this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support.
I also get a message that reads: Keyboard failure

I'm using an older (2003) Dell 4600 with 1GB of RAM running Windows XP Home
Edition. I just recently installed SP3 and had not experienced this issue
prior to that. I've seen this message seeveral times before but always
managed to eventually reboot. Today, however, the machine refuses to boot up.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? I derive part of my livelihood from
this computer and urgently need to get it back up and running.

hi there.

try the following:

Change the USB Emulation Setting in the BIOS and OR
Reset the Dell Dimension desktop System Setup (BIOS) to factory defaults.
