When you reinstall XP the procedure will ask you to FORMAT the
harddrive before reinstalling a new copy of your OS.

If you want to start fresh, FIRST make sure that you have saved
*ALL/ANY* data, music, movies, etc that you want to keep.

Then insert the Windows XP installation disc into your CD-ROM drive and
turn your computer off. Reboot it and start from the disc.

It will ask you at some point if you wish to reinstall as a fresh
install or a repair install. You then select the fresh install option.
There are many steps to this because it wants to make sure that you
want to totally wipe out what is on the hard drive before proceeding.
So be sure to FULLY read all the questions and make sure that you
understand them.

If you have any questions you may contact me personally on my site. I
would be happy to answer any and all your questions.
