WORDPAD PAGE-NUMBERING?

ALTHOUGH WORDPAD ALLOWS CREATION OF LARGE MULTI-PAGE DOCUMENTS, THE
APPLICATION SEEMS TO LACK PAGE-NUMBERING CAPABILITY WHEN YOU PRINT. IT HAS
PUZZLED ME THROUGH 98SE AND NOW IN XPHOME. AM I MISSING SOMETHING? IF NOT,
IS THERE AN OPTION OF ANYKIND SO I CAN PRINT MY MULTI-PAGE WORDPAD DOCUMENTS
FULLY NUMBERED?

First, why are you yelling at us? Posting in all capitals is considered
shouting and is really frowned upon by persons on the internet plus it makes
the post hard to read.

WordPad has never had headers and footers or page numbering included as an
option and this is the reason you can't use it. Microsoft Word has the
capability to use headers and footers with automatic page numbering but it
is expensive.

There is a free word processing program that will do the page numbering that
you need. Download and install Open Office www.openoffice.org and use the
Writer for all your word processing needs. It also has "almost work alike"
for Excel, PowerPoint and Access which are Microsoft's other applications in
their Office series.

BTW, Open Office will also open the WordPad documents you have already

Bad enough that you feel compelled to shout in the Subject header. I
was still willing to read your post until I see that you are shouting
(all caps) in the body, too.

Ow, my ears hurt from the shouting.
Ow, my eyes hurt having to read all caps.

Onto the next post where the person asking for help isn't acting like

interested you can read my posted reply the first posted answer -- his ears

I replied with this yesterday but somehow it did not seem to transmit.

Being brand new to this info-sharing galaxy, I had to read the Terms of
Use for our MSN Group, etc, just recently -- so the following excerpt, which
I share with you, is fresh in mind and comes under the subheading: Rules of
conduct:
Appropriate Language: The purpose of our communities is to exchange
technical information and expertise about Microsoft products. Please avoid
personal attacks, slurs, and profanity in your interactions.
For sure, I will not come screaming into the speaker system of this
discussion group again. I have learned my lesson, thank you, perhaps the
hard way. Do you agree that there might also be a lesson for you in all this?
Beyond your opening salvo, however, nothing takes away from your
willingness to transmit a really useful reply to someone who struck you as a
noisy bull in a quiet china shop. In fact, I tried to set the font for this
message to #4 -- but I feared you wouldn't hear such whispered appreciation
for your good advice. Therefore, in the slightly strident old #10 font
(muffled in lower case, of course) I send you a HEARTY THANK Y-- or, rather,
"a hearty thank you" for offering me a solid and quick solution to an old
bear of a problem.

I was not profane, I did not attack you or slur you. I stated facts. You
were shouting, as it is commonly called in comptuereze, and I wanted to let
you know that it was wrong. Actually, I was probably less "belligerent"
than many who post back to the people that type in all capital letters.

As for you not coming to the news group again, that is for you to decide but
you are always welcome to ask questions or to help others as I have

ok. I don't want to beat a dead horse, so this will be my last pitch on the
issue. First of all I did not say, "I won't come...again." I said, "I won't
come...SCREAMING ...again. [Iows, I will from now on only make sparing use of
CapLocks.] Since in ComputerezeLand it is such absolute dogma that CapLocks
is tantamount to verbal hysteria I will do what the Romans do in Rome. As a
matter of fact, I didn't even know my Caps were locked. I don't like it
myself: Upper case takes too much space and, I fully agree, is hard to read.
I re-read your post and I admit you just stated facts [yelling]. Though for a
newcomer to this scene it struck me as a pretty blunt approach to the
issue--I concede it was not an attack, though it was easy to miscontstrue
coming from a complete stranger. In any case, thanks again for your help.
