Regedit problem

Hi Rob here a newbe,
Can anyone please, tell me how I can make regedit stay open as it is only
open for less than a second.I need to delete some entries.

If you have difficulty in keeping Regedit open as a "Newbe", I highly
recommend you leave it alone for you may crash your entire system.
Solicit the help of a more knowledgeable PC enthusiast to assist you.

If Regedit is closing immediately, your computer is most probably infected
with viruses and/or malware. Go through these general malware removal steps
systematically -

I meant newbe to Newsgroups. I have some experiance and have expert advice
on what to delete as I am unable to uninstall/install my scanner woul still
like any advice on regedit. Thanks

I don't understand why Regedit should as you say "stay open" for a short
time. Whatever the cause of the problem it is actually doing you a great
favour in not letting you make changes which may corpse the computer!

Really bad advice. The last thing someone with a misbehaving system should

In short you're saying never use a registry cleaner. So why is registry
cleaner / optimiser software produced if there isn't a market for it and why
are people buying and using registry cleaner / optimiser software if there
isn't some benefit? There are occasions when a registry cleaner / optimiser
is useful.

Thanks Frank. Would you please elucidate on that comment? As I have said
there are occasions when a registry cleaner / optimiser is useful. I have
found computers boot up quicker with a registery stripped of redundant lines
due to inefficiect uninstalls and also annoying error messages complaining
that so-and so can't run because of a missing file.

Registry cleaners may (possibly) help boot time a little. They will not
speed up the computer's running. They will often remove Registry
information essential to the operation of a program of even Windows itself
and some won't even offer to back up the data first. Even when they do
offer a backup too many users do not bother or have no idea how to restore
it. They should only be used be professionals who understand the Registry
if at all.
