Hi,

I need to use some software that an only operate on Win98. Thus I did a dual
boot on my computer. One problem I encountered is that Win98 does not
recognise any RAM more than 768MB and returned an error. I followed the steps
in the following article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184447 but it does
not seems to help at all.

I'm running 2GB of RAM and I dpn't wish to keep taking my RAM in and out of
my computer each time I sitch between WinXP and Win98. I hope someone can
advise me on this. Maybe let me know what I've done wrong.

PS : My system.ini file was empty when I first opened it. So I added the
following to it :

[386Enh]
MaxPhysPage=30000

It worked once but faled to succeeed after I reboot it. Help is very much
appreciated.

Thank you.

If the system has 700MB's of RAM or more installed following line MUST be
added to the [vcache] section of windows\system.ini file but never more.
MaxFileCache=512000

If you go over 1GB of RAM and still receive errors add the following line
to the [386enh] section of the System.ini file: MaxPhysPage=40000
This limits the amount of physical RAM that Windows can access
to 1GB. If the errors go away with this setting remove the memory over
1GB as it will not be used with this setting.

If that brings no joy you could install VPC2007 (free), then install Win98 in
it.

Hi Brian,

Thanx for your prompt reply. I tried the system.ini portion but failed. Let
me go and give VPC a go.

Thank you!!
