A couple of you people recommended Belarc Advisor (something I can
agree with).

However: I just did a clean install of Windows XP SP2, and upgraded
to SP3.
Now, Belarc Advisor tells me that eight Microsoft Security Updates
are missing
Q873379 - Important (details...)
Q911701 - Moderate (details...)
Q914796 - Important (details...)
Q920816 - Important (details...)
Q941569 - Critical (details...)
Q944423 - Important (details...)
Q946216 - Important (details...)
Q947866 - Important (details...)

YET: None of those update numbers can be found searching
Microsoft.com.

Is Belarc as good as you (and I) think it is?

Thanks for any insights!

Not sure why you cannot find them.

Take the numbers after the Q and put them at the end of this address:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/

In other words:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873379
( Office XP WordPerfect 5.x Converter )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911701
( SharePoint Team Services )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914796
( security update for Office XP )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920816
( security update for Office XP, for Project 2002, and for Visio 2002 )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941569
( Vulnerability in Windows Media file format )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944423
( security update for Office XP )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946216
( security update for Publisher 2002 )

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947866
( security update for Office XP )

Looks like the majority are updates for Office XP/2002. Of course Windows
XP Service Pack 3 will do NOTHING for a product (Office) it was not intended
for. ;-)

I noticed that, too. Go to Start/All Programs/Microsoft Update and there
they are.

Ken,

What did you *notice*? The 'update numbers' listed above are easily found.

Take the numbers after the Q and put them at the end of this address:

I hope that Mr.(?) Old Enough understood my response. I noticed that after
installing XP SP3 that eight more updates were required. Going to
Microsoft's Update site from the Start and All Programs links to Microsoft
Update things proceeded automatically and smoothly. Belarc Advisor, which
previously noticed that eight further updates were required cleared all the
Red-X flags after doing so.

In short, I noticed the same thing Old Enough did and suggested that
Microsoft Update was able to take care of it. No problems.
