I rolled out the latest updates that Microsoft put out on the 13th,
and a couple of computers on the network have the high cpu usage bug.
Originally, i have read about the issue but none of the computers were
effected by this.

My set up is SBS 2003 SP1 with WSUS 2 SP2.

Can the reason for this be that I still use WSUS 2.0?

Anyone else having this problem?

I have two computers at one clients that are doing the same - 100%
SVCHOST, have not installed SP3 on them.

I have not resolved it, they were older computers and we just replaced
them with Vista Ultimate computers.

Me too - on my own machine, yet. I haven't figured out which process is
actually doing it - I need to run process explorer next time it happens.
I've been manually killing it when it happens because I've been too busy to
investigate.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire?

This also is happening on my WindowsXP computer after (I believe) an
automatic Microsoft update. I have 100% CPU usage but low memory usage.
I've disabled automatic updates until Microsoft fixes this. Does anyone know
if Microsoft is working on this?

There are bugs in WSUS, you need to decline all MSRT on WSUS server. if the
client still have the issue, some of the client you need to stop AU service
and delele c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution folder.

The svchost 100% problem is not unique to WSUS. I work with 2 SBS boxes, one
that uses WSUS and one that does not. Both systems have had problems with
svchost, however the non-WSUS boxes only showed 50% cpu vs the 100% on the
box connected to WSUS server. The problem is very random and hits only a
couple of machines. I corrected the problem at work with a format and
re-install. One machine at home is a fresh load of XP Pro and has the
problem. I hope a solution is found soon.
