 - Problem with 2003 SBS Licensing I keep getting messages from my 2003sbs to my xp pro pc's telling me there is a problem with licensing. When I check the licensing on the server, I see the following message " (POP-UP BOX:Microsoft Management Console: Snap in failed to initialize: Name: Small Business Server Licensing CLSID: etc etc.) Then when I click ok, I see 'snap-in creating failed.  - Adding POP3 mail account to Outlook Hi, I wonder if anyone knows how to get round this. On two clients i want to add a pop3 mail account to there outlook accounts along with the existing exchange account. The pop3 account is on a different domain and its going to be used when the clients aren't in the office. I have tried adding the accounts but Outlook cant seem to find the pop or smtp servers.  - Mapping Drives Hi, I have a SBS2003 that we are using as a file/application server. We have a number of machines that are running XP Home, so we cannot logon using domain. When these folks attempt to map a drive they see the server with an "+" in front. When they double click the server, the shared drives are not shown. The workgroup is the server's domain. The users are defined on the server (i.e. Allan locally logs on to his computer as Allan and Allan exists on the server). Any suggestions? Thanks Rich Tag: VSS problems. Tag: 50073

 - SBS2K3 Network Neighbourhood Heres the scenario: LAN A - SBS2003 MSVPN Connection to LANB Also running SBS2003 I want to be able to browse the remote lan via network neighbourhood but it doesnt see the remote domain. Both are running wins/dns/dhcp. The vpn connection is fine and I can open remote shares etc but not through network neighbourhood. My reason for trying this is that I've got veritas backup exec 9.1 running on servera and the remote client running on serverb. When I had both machines on the same lan I could browse and hence run a full backup. However, as soon as I take server b off the local lan in a different location and incorporate the vpn connection the domain browsing is lost. Anybody have any ideas? I've been all round the houses with regards to wins settings, firewall ports, registry changes for RRAS etc but to no avail. cheers Tony Tag: VSS problems. Tag: 50066

 - security hey, for some reason the users on my newly installed sbs network all get asked if they want to open the file, because it could be unsafe, whenever the open a shortcut or many other types of file, i have tryed lowering the security level for the local intranet in ie to no avail, i am completly stuck on this one any help would be greatly appreciated thanks shane Tag: VSS problems. The remote host "123.123.123.123", responded to the SMTP = command "rcpt" with "450 xyz@xyzdomain.com: Recipient address rejected: = Domain not found ". The full command sent was "RCPT = TO:xyzi@xyzdomain.com ". This may cause the connection to fail. " These events are repeated hundreds of times - usually with the same = recipient, but occasionally with others. On the outgoing email section of the SBS Server Usage Report, one user = is shown as having a massive amount of outgoing emails. We changed = passwords on the account, and followed KB 324958's recommendation to = turn on logging, but can't see any of the Event Id 1708 which would = indicate that the user's passwords were hacked. I believe that these 7002 events started after installing the SBS POP3 = update KB835734. Is it just a sign that the update is doing its job? = Or some other form of relaying? I can't find anything relevant in = eventid.net or the ms KB.  - SBS2003 licencing POP3 "Every client connection requires a CAL if the client computer accesses network or server application services, such as : Exchange services, File services, Printing services and Remote access services." This is what the SBS2003 help says about licencing. What about the following accesses, do they need one CAL too ? - external users that have only an Exchange POP3 box on our Exchange server ? - custom recepients or e-mail enabled accounts, set up for forwarding E-mail from our domain to an E-mail address on another provider Tag: VSS problems.  - Bugcheck 0x0000001d (0xdeadfd06.... problem Hello, We have a Compaq Proliant server with Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 and receive at random times the following bug check: The computer has rebooted from a bug check. The bug check was: 0x0000001d (0xdeadfd06, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xf1ecb51e). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. I search the internet and only come up with something about a IPX protocol, but I only have TCP/IP, Microsoft Client and File/Printer sharing installed. I also found something about USB driver problem on Windows XP. We have a Smart UPS USB connected. We also have this configuration at multiple customers who have no problem so I don't think this USB is the problem. This bug check is always the same and comes around 10 times per month at different times.  - CALs and eula I have purchased SBS 2003 recently and ended up with incomplete install so the server does not know it is a PDC, hence EULA error messages and auto shutdown , which from this news group I find I should run the integrated setup. The server is fully functional and in use so this looks a bit risky, we will make a Ghost image then try run setup. My main query is the 5 CALS we have. I have connected more than 5 PC's at once all connecting to the SQL Server with separate VB and Access apps. I expect to purchase more CALS but am not sure why SBS has not complained yet, is this tied in with the above? (I do remember being asked about licencing re per server/per seat or something similar) and selected per seat ... this part I found unexpected as did not get this question when installing our development PC ?  - Hang: When Adding New user at "Configuring Group Membership Settings" Greetings: Every time I try to add users using either a template or manually, the Add User Wizard hangs at the 50% mark during the "Configuring Group Membership Settings" phase This makes me have to Kill the app in Taskmanager in order to close the wizard.  - I'm getting this alert all of sudden? Hi, This morning I've started getting quite a few of these alerts. I've checked the queue and there was a SMTP connector from yahoo.com with about 20 emails there from a user I don't know. I've followed the MS Knowledge base article to see if our server is an open relay, and it's not. Whats going on here?  - Setting up Exchange Server: SBCyahoo & Namecheap I am setting up Exchange on an SBS2K3P with ISA installed. 2 NICS with the Server WAN NIC going to a Cayman 3546 (DSL) & out to SBCYahoo http://www.netopia.com/equipment/pdf/spec/3500.pdf SBCYahoo is serving a static connection with DHCP out of the Cayman. I have registered the public domain with Namecheap.com. I have SBS2K3 Premium installed & am getting out through the Cayman just fine. I am WAY confused about setting up DNS, MX, MXE, CNAME & 'A' records. Do I do this on the NAMECHEAP site (they have what appears to be good host setup tools) or on the SBSYahoo side ? I need a little bit of a primer on the what, where and how to enter the info in order to get SMTP up and running on the Exchange Server.  - XP Client Can't Log In To Server After Initial Setup To All: I have just set up a new SBS 2003 Premium server. I have been able to get my new XP Pro clients to connect to the server (Http://server/ConnectComputer). After the Administrator and the proper User are selected, together with the proper Computer, the client system reboots, connects to the server and initiates some activity that is impossible to see due to the speed at which it executes. After the second reboot of the client system, if I try to log in to the server using the Username and Password that were created during the server setup, I get a message that the client cannot connect to the domain or the user cannot be found. Before I continue setting up additional client computers (and possibly creating more of the same problems) I would like to know how I can resolve this problem on the two systems that are unable to log on to the server.  - Exchange server question Hello, I reinstalling SBS2003 for the 7th time. I am having fun though. I do have a few question. I would like to use POP3 Connector to retrieve emails from various providers and then send it to one mailbox. I would like reply to an email and have the reply to name to appear as the domain that I have received it from. For example, I am retrieving emails from domain1.com (from isp1) and domain2.com (from isp2). The emails goes to mailbox1. When I reply to emails from domain1.com, I want the reply to email to say someone@domain1.com. The same goes to domain2.com. I want to avoid creating different mailbox for each domain if at all possible.  - SBS2003 Premium download problems Hi NG, Have a SBS2003 Premium Server with ISA2000 loaded, dual NIC, broadband connected to the external NIC. Clients use SecureNAT (firewall client not loaded anywhere). The server has a pair of Realtek 8139 NICs in it. It will happily work on the internet and web pages can be browsed. However when an attempt is made to download files EG: MSDE off www.microsoft.com, it starts then stalls. About 100K of the file is downloaded and that is all. Seems to happen regardless of which site. Ran the Connect to the Internet on the To Do list and changed over to a dial up connection on a different ISP. No problems downloading. Therefore thought it was the braodband ISP. So configured a standalone workstation and plugged it into the ADSL modem on the broadband ISP. Again, no problems downloading. Reconfigured back to the SBS2003 server running on the ADSL and no downloads. Have tried resetting the ISA cache to different sizes. Have also deleted ISA cache to force it to rebuild it.  - CAL's question According to Microsoft site: "The number of Windows Small Business Server 2003 CALs required equals the maximum number of users or devices that may simultaneously access or use the server software installed on a particular server. The Windows Small Business Server 2003 CALs that you purchase are designated for use exclusively with a particular server." so can the number of users setup exceed the number of licenses? providing that they are not logged on to SBS2k3 in the same time? Would there be any problems with the Exchange licensing when the number of mailboxes exceeds the number of licenses? Ie: there will be some remote users checking their email once in a while...  - Installed on wrong drive I recently installed SBS 2003 standard on a new server. I have a mirrored drive set partitioned to a C of 10Gig and a D of 140 Gig. I thought I had installed exchange on the D drive. However, when I went back and checked it was on the C drive.  - ISA - 403 Forbidden I recently added a router in front of SBS2k3 with ISA - 2 NICs (2 static IP's). All ports required :80, 443, 444, 4125.... on the router have been forwarded to the external SBS static IP. The problem is that when I run CEICW, unless I select "Allow access to the entire site from the internet" under web service configuration in Firewall settings, I can't access the site remotely and get this message: "403 Forbidden - The server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202) Internet Security and Acceleration Server" Before the router installation I had selected only certain web site services such as OWA and RWW and it worked fine. If I select "Allow access to the entire site from the internet " everything works fine, but it publishes the entire website, so I had to block port 80 and use only https://xxx/remote, or /exchange.  - Problem connecting to Desktop Hi, SBS2003 Std. I can connect to RWW and once in I can use OWA. But I cannot connect to the server or client desktops. The client machines say they may not be configured for remote access, I will check when I go in next. The server though, starts the process but just leaves a blank white screen, no error messages. I have run CEICW (via radmin) several times without any problems.  - Correct way to configure POP3 Global Hi, I wish to know what is the correct approach for setting up POP3 global. Also what is required at the ISP end and how should that be configured. We are juggling ISP's at the moment due to a few unforseen problems, and just wanted to know whats the best way. ISP with the pop3 account has adopted our domain and e-mail side.  - Outlook won't close I am running sbs 2003. I installed Outlook from the server on all my clients (25 running XP Pro). On most of the clients when they shutdown outlook the little icon in the lower right side stays there and when they try to open it again it says that outlook cannot contact the server. This does not happen on about 3 or 4 of the clients. I have to go to task manager and kill the process before they can open Outlook again. Any Help PLEASE!!!! This is running me crazy. I finally got the TO DO list and pop3 working on the new box but still having two other issues and would like to see what you all can offer, since you pointed me right at it last time (no dual posts this time I promise). 1.  - Maybe I'm doing this wrong? Calendar Sharing I have a team of users who want a group calendar which one person will administer but the others can view, add and make changes. Originally I created a separate calendar under the Mailbox of the person who will adminster it and gave the team Author rights. I did sharing properties of this calendar and when I try to open it from a team members desktop I cannot. I've tried creating a calendar in Public Folders and sharing it out the same way, but in order for people to view the calendar they have to physically drill to the folder to view it. The team wants the calendar side by side to their personal calendars so they can compare appts and conflicts.  - Getting emails from exchange into a 3rd party email client Hi group. I have been directed here today by a helpful microsoft employee. I have looked down the old posts some way but I haven't seen this problem raised... so here goes. I have recently bought a new server and installed sbs2003 premium. Most things work after some jiggling. However, I have been using a paperless office application called TCM4000 for 3 years now. All emails, phone calls, documents, faxes etc are kept in client folders. I want to know if I can configure TCM to look into my exchange mailbox and extract the emails from it. I know TCM will log into all the pop3 accounts I have directly, but when I am away on business, or off sick, or even a holiday, I would rather have exchange downloading the email every 15 minutes to stop the webserver pop3 boxes being filled up with uncollected mail. It must be possible to do as I know Lotus Notes gets emails from exchange, or have these big players tied up this part of the market to make us use notes or outlook for email.  - Problem with backup I had a problem with ntbackup when is shedule to run every day. The backup is done to shared folders in differents clients, normal backup y saving the backup file in the hard disk of the same server, the problem is that ntbackup close with a access memory error, (sometime in the middle or sometime at start of the backup) and the file of the backup cannot be read, sometimes the backup is done correctly for 2 or 3 days, but when the error happens, all the backups is damaged. I try make the backup with different options (incremental, etc), and do a manual backup, but I allways had errors with ntbackp.exe. The server is SBS 2003 standar and the clients WinXP Profesional.
